We checked the timing system and it was fine. For a while, the blinkers would randomly turn on when we weren't using the car. Eventually, they went out and we replaced the fuse and than then the lights on the dash would randomly go on and off. About a month ago, the car would randomly crank and not start but if you waited a couple of minutes it would start. Finally it just stopped starting. The car cranks but wont start. My parents had the same problem and it was the ignition switch, but My husband has friends who are mechanics and they said it couldn't be that so my husband wont check that.

My ford Taurus would not crank. It did it yesterday and then after a few minutes it started. Auto Zone tested the battery and the alternator and it was fine. Today when I got back in it, it cranked this morning but when I went to get back in it, it did not crank

It could be bad plugs, plug wires, a bad ground will do this as well. Check to see if it has the three main things.

Spark
Air
Fuel

Anther common problem is the crank shaft speed sensor. It will cause it to not spark and not start.

I agree with Joe check for spark, air, fuel and also compression. The crank sensor is also a great suggestion. For spark you can check or replace the igniter sends the signal to the coil. For air, clogged air filter which unlikely or more possible a gasket leak in the intake manifold or throttle body. For fuel, clogged fuel filter, faulty pressure regulator, leaking injectors and or o rings. Compression, bad head gasket, cracked engine block, leaking piston rings. It could be a valve problem, these are just some ideas as what to look for.
In your case I suspect an electrical problem, a short circuit. I would like to find out more about the electrical side of it. Do you constantly have to charge the battery? Does it get drained over night? When the lights were acting crazy was the blinker switch on or other light switch on? It sounds like you have an electrical problem some where in the steering column.

Timin chain and fuel pump has been replace after coil pack and cranshaft sensor...my car turns but wont start.

if the engine is being turn'd over by the starter then the starter is fine. you say the fuel pump was changed have you checked it is pumping. and no air in the line. as an air bubble will stop fuel getting to the engine. also the coil pack was change was it for the same year as your car as there are meany types been made for different ecu types and if it is the a matching pair it will not spark. same with sensors they need to be paired to the right engine cam/crank... all these will make the engine not run. a pone looking there are 2 types of coil packs. and 2 types off sensor packs for different engine years check with the old part hopfully you still have them to the parts you have put on and make sur they match.

Replaced plugs and coil pack on 2001 ford taurus now car will not start

You will need to figure out if you have spark to the plugs, and if not- if you have voltage to the coil to proceed.

1992 Ford Taurus wagon not starting, but turns over

You might have a problem with your crank sensor or ignition. Remove spark plug wire and check for spark while turning engine over. When this happens unplug crank sensor near crank pulley then plug back in to see if it starts if so replace crank sensor.
