SOURCE: CVT 2002 Mini Cooper transmission check and change

The only way to check the trans fluid is to drain the fluid right out of the trans pan. There should be 5 liters. The only way to get the fluid in is by pumping the fluid back in by means of the fill plug on the lower front of the transmission. I believe it is a 4 or a 6mm allen to remove the plug. Whatever you use to pump the fluid back in needs to seal where the fill plug is because fluid will pour right back out. I would change the fluid at least every 50k.

SOURCE: How do I change a running light in a 2006 Mini cooper?

I am assuming it is the same as the one on my 2004.

First, the hole into which you must stick your hand is too small for many people. Find somebody with a small hand or use a pair of padded pliers GENTLY. I have a pair of angled instrumentation pliers which are meant for this kind of work.

The instructions in your book probably say to turn the bulb holder to the left. But, you wonder, which way is left? Since you are standing at the front bumper facing the car, left means clockwise. In other words, the top of the holder will move toward the left side of the car. That's your right. If you could stand in back of the bulb and housing, you would be turning it counter-clockwise.

The parking lamp is the smaller of the two assemblies which are inserted in the lamp housing. The wiring harness and connector come off by depressing the latch at the back of the connector and then pulling gently. You don't have to detach the connector, but it gets things out of the way.

Now grip the black assembly to which the wiring connector was attached, wiggle it a bit to break it free of the grime that will be there, and then twist it. It is sealed in place with an O ring so it may take some gentle persuading. Pushing it in slightly while twisting sometimes helps.

Once the bulb has been replaced, you can bandage the cuts on your hand you got from reaching through that tiny hole to get to the lamp assembly. :-) BTW--it is best to have no children in the vicinity the first time you try to figure this out unless they already know all the words you are likely to use.

SOURCE: changed headlight bulb but still not working, in

Keep in mind there are TWO seperate headlight bulbs for each side. One above the other. The first one you see is the highbeam. Look above it for the other rubber boot, its square. That houses the low beam bulb.

How to replace tail gate bulb on 2004 mini cooper

in the boot of the car, remove the appropriate access panel on the left or the right. There you will see a 10mm tail light retaining nut, remove it. Push firmly on the back of the tail light and it will pop out. (note there are 2 spring loaded wedges so it will go slowly) Push out evenly and disconnect the plug. With it out, there is a retaining clip just unclip it and your bulb backplane will be out and you can replece the bulbs. Do the reverse to install it.
