Cluster panel acting sporatic

We just purchased a 2004 GMC Envoy XUV with very low miles. The instrument panel seems to be sporatic with trouble lights staying on. Our son also recently purchased the same and had the same trouble. Does there happen to be a known problem with these? and if so, can we get GMC to own-up to replacing it? We were given a price of approx. $600 by a mechanic to "trade out" ours with a new or refurbished one. thank you for your time, gail from Ohio

Usually the lights that stay on the most are the ABS & airbag, but every once in awhile ALL the lights on the entire instrument panel stay on....thanks for the info though.

Is it ALL of the gauges? My wife's 2005 Envoy Denali had a problem with the gas gauge sending unit (in the tank) that made the gauge act erratic. Also, the check engine light would stay on alot. If it is all the gauges, then it may well be the dash unit. Hope that helps some.

There is a Recall for the cluster, we own two 2004 ENvoys and both were changed at the dealer. They were replaced with new ones that same day. (make sure you call your dealer ahead of time and let them know there is a recall for the cluster)

I have a 04 gmc envoy xuv unknown driver message no security light will not start battery was bad got new one tryed passlock reset stills say unknown driver no start

It's a short in the instrument cluster.
I had the same problem with my 2004 XUV.
It started in early December of 2007.
Intermittent manifestations, than more persistent.
Took it to the GMC Dealer --
Of course, the Truck wouldn't do it's tricks for the Tech.
They replaced the ignition switch and sent me home.
It got progressively worse.
I waited until I was sure it would do it for the tech.
Took it back in to GMC Dealer--
It's a short in the instrument cluster.
They needed to replace the entire cluster.
I bought an extended warranty when I bought the truck.
The warranty is still in effect --
So I only had to pay the $100 deductible.
No Idea what it might cost otherwise.

2004 GMC ENVOY XUV I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE CLUSTER ODOMETER WORK,S PROPERLY BUT THE TEMP AND TACH ARE ALL OVER THE PLACE HELP PLEASE

The stepper motors for those indicators are bad, it is common problem. The cluster can be repaired if you are handy with a soldering iron or you can send it out for repair, check for vendors on Ebay. The stepper motors are available on Ebay as well.

2005 XUV Envoy 101,000 miles, speedometer going crazy, mechanic says its the instrument panel 350.00 for new panel. Hear ticking noises coming from engine. Alarm keeps going off "tailgate ajar"...

the insterment cluster might be covered by warranty GM had some problems with the clusters, you need to have your local GM deailer run you vin# to see if it is under warranty, the door ajar light is probabley just a door latch switch it should not be thet expenceve to repair, mabe $100-$150 that is a lot less then a new suv. i dont know wich seal so i cant comment on that but in this day and age 100,xxx in just geting broke in the truck still has allot of miles left in it.

I have a 2004 GMC Envoy XUV that I bought new and at 96,000 miles my speedometer started going crazy. Now at 140,000 miles it only works on occassion. Usually it reads 50-70mph parked in the garage. My...

if it auto transmission , the ratio changes and the speedo reading is affected by the VSS sensor ( around $100 from reports)
if the transmission is running well other than that it will not need a transmission just and transmission oil change
suggest that you find an accredit professional transmission shop and have a proper diagnosis done

I have a 2004 xuv envoy with 115k miles. The

i would say it's long overdue. i would think the manufacturer would recomend changing the trans fluid at 25,000-30,000 miles. the owners manual will have regularly scheduled maintenance routines listed.
