I has this problem after i had recently changed out the stereo. Chech to see if the illumination wire that runs to the stereo is hooked up correctly. If you have an aftermarket stereo you may need to ground it to the body of the car.

I believe that the fuse is located in the engine compartment but check your car manual to find the exact location.

SOURCE: Can't move the climate control knob to hot

There is a technical service bulletin for this problem.(tsb# 05-55-003) The blend door inside the heater box is binding and needs to be replaced. Unfortunately, the dash has to be removed and the a.c. refrigerant removed in order to remove the heater box.
I already have purchased the blend door and the linkage for my son,s 2003 Lancer. I will be doing the job in about a week.

SOURCE: I have no heat in my 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer. When

The cable that pulls the cool/heat switch on the a/c gets weak and it doesnt allow the dial to switch over to heat. You can see that cable and the way its supposed to work on the right side of the gas pedal over it. I usually just use my foot to push that switch over to heat and reach with and pull on it with my right hand to cool.

SOURCE: 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer air conditioner

Your 2003 A/C refrigerant is R134A not R12, commonly called Freon.

If "will not take Freon" means that you have checked the A/C pressure and its correct, the question becomes why is the A/C not working.

A common cause is the compressor clutch not engaging. If you turn on the A/C and interior fan, the engine should slow down as it takes the load from the compressor. If this is not happening, the clutch is not engaging.

If you were simply told that your car "does not take Freon", then this is correct (see above), but lets assume that the refrigerant pressure was not actually checked. The most common fault (and now quite likely in a 2003) is the refrigerant has leaked out through pin hole corrosion. This is most commonly the condensor in front of the radiator. Any AC garage can tell in a few minutes if the pressure is correct or not.

The fix is replacing the condensor and drier cannister, vacuuming out the system (mandatory) and repressurizing. Get quotes including parts from reputable AC garages. Many are not in my experience.

It just happened to me, and the solution only costed $3.
In the fuse box, there is a black fuse diagonally to the rest. Change it. Thats it.

You will need to replace the timing belt and the balance shaft belt (if applicable). Your car may not have a balance shaft belt. Mitsubishi did away with that belt, but I can't remember what year it started. At 60,000 miles. And again at every 60,000 miles. You should also replace the accy drive belts at that time. If you don't replace the timing belt and it breaks, severe engine damage WILL happen. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Hooked up the battery reversed polarity. Blew the fusible link but replaced it. Now the car will crank but not start.

start checking fuses hopefully its just another blown fuse if your lucky

but if all the fuses are good, you probably fried something like the computer or ignition module and probably the radio

hopefully its something simple and cheep but don't be surprised if you have to shell out some cash to replace the computer

Mitsubishi lancer glx 2003 battery discharge

If you disconnect the ground terminal of the battery can you see any sparks if you touch cable to the - terminal?

If you can, go to the fuse panel by the drivers left knee and remove the fuses one at a time. Each time you remove a fuse touch the battery cable to the - terminal and see if you have a spark.
Doing this will enable you to find the circuit that is drawing the current from the battery.

Hope this helps Good Luck Loringh PS Please leave a rating thks
