As you can gather from my description of the condition of the car, it sits in the garage most of the time and only driven on every once in a while, but the service records are up to date.

SOURCE: Engine don't start and have a clicking sound

you should check and see the batttery smart visor indicator (if applicable - see owners manual)
this may be that the battery has been drained and does not have enough power to rotate the starter. lights, dashboard, instruments light up ok as the voltage is there but the power (amperage) is low. please refer to owners manual on how to recharge your battery. bare in mind that removing the baterry from the care will reset systems (audio, alarm) and you wil need to recode them by using the codes provided with the car.

SOURCE: audi engine oil leak?

Sounds like a leaking valve cover gasket. The parts are around $50 to do both cylinder heads from www.ecstuning.com. It's not a major issue, but it may be a sore point to a potential buyer.

SOURCE: tappet problem

the check prosidure requires you engine be cold engine at top dead center at #1 cylinder and cams timing markes aligned to markes. check only intake and exaust lifters with lobes in the released position. intake is .15-.25mm and exaust is .25-.35 mm. rotate the engine 180deg. to check the remaining cylinders. if exsesive play is exsperianced. You must remove cam shafts, and add a new shim to remove the clearence. this includes the timing chain.most engine machine shops have these shims.really suggest you go online for a sevice manule. you can ruin this engine if not performed properly. This is a zero clearence engine! (no clearence between valves and pistons.) any more questions i can help you with just send to my e mail.

Hi... I dive a 2005 Toyota tazz 1.3....the car does not crank or start it is only showing the battery light... Please help

What EXACTLY does it do when you turn the key? Nothing at all when you turn the key? Dashboard lights come on but just go dim when you try to start the engine? Or a very lazy attempt to start when you turn the key? For this check your battery. An old battery, (more than 5 years old), can hold a full charge but can be too weak to turn the starter motor. If you just have the battery light on this is probably a good place to start.

2005 Toyota Tazz 130
what country are you in, cabs ended in 2006 in far from USA countries.
so that you? in S.Africa or some small Island in the Pacific running JDM cars?
quote, this you?
A facelifted version of the sixth-generation five-door hatchback was made in South Africa as an entry-level model called the Toyota Tazz from 1996 until July 5, 2006. The Tazz was offered as 130, and 160i. It was also sold as a panel van called the Carri. [4]
end quote.

why not post photo of engine.
or get the FSM on this car, factory service manual, at Toyota.
it covers all THAT.
if not a carb, you cant tune it, like a carb , you fix it.

my first idea> give it a tuneup, new spark plugs, filters.

Hi:
$1500 for a good driving car that you know the history of doesn't sound bad to me...Has your mom taken care of it mechanically? Stuff like regular maintenance and oil changes make a difference. If it is a 5 speed, has the clutch been changed, and if an Automatic, has the transmission been serviced?

Other than that, it is probably a good investment!
