I don't know what light bulb to put in the gear shift

I looked through the manual and it says NOTHING about what type of light to put in my gear shift... or how to do so... What should I do? ---No money---

it is on the automatic gear shift, in the center of the car. Between the front seats.

It wouldn't even be in a repair manual-seldom needing replacement. Where is it? If on the instrument panel- hard to get to- the cluster has to come out to replace the bulb. If on the center console-much easier- just pull the top of the console off, shifter, indicator there? The bulb should be easy to get to from there.

Use your old bulb for replacement size and type.

I have a 1999 Audi A6 quattro my right brake light went out I went to to switch the bulb and the bulb was OK but wont come on now I can't put my shift gear into gear without turning my lights on

There's should be a shift interlock that prevents it from being put into gear unless the brakes are on; check if the fuse it good for the brake lights; it seems to somehow be tied in with the parking lights, which may be feeding into the brake light circuit.

there is a bulb underneath the shifter panel-pull up the plastic around the shifter and look for it underneath the shifter- it should be a 168-or 194 bulb- cheers Denny

The lights near the gear shift don't light on

Check your fuses or the bulb may simply be blown and you will need to remove the faceplate and replace them easy fix.

2006 HONDA CIVIC GEAR SHIFT LIGHT BULB REPLACEMENT

all you have to do is pop the little square piece around the gear shift lever up and there is a wire with a tiny bulb on it. It is a pain in the butt to get all the pieces back in place and put the square piece back down. i have had to replace mine like every 6 months. be careful not to use too much force because you can break the clips that secure it in place and that will look worse than your bulb not working

Gear shift bulb socket showing no voltage

It may be the fuse. Check and replace if necessary. Or the wiring may be grounding somewhere when the bulb is in place. Look for cracks/cuts in the wiring.

Replace bulb on automatic gear shift console

If the shift console is on floor then look for bolts holding it down.  Take out bolts and then you can maneuver console so you can see where light is plugged in and get the right light to replace it.  It will probably be a small light which tend to cost a bit more, but at least you'll have the light back.
