Emergency release should be in the trunk as for the closing of the trunk, you need to disconnect the cable at the trunk latch until you can get it fixed

My trunk will not close

There is a possibility that the remote latch cable is stuck (lubrication is gone) . With a screwdriver, NOT the fingers, try to return manually the latch, to its open position (instead of the pull open position). If you push it too far, it will go into locked position, and when you pull down the trunk lid, it wont reach its normal closed position. In that case, pull the latch back open, with the remote lever. Should you manage to close the trunk properly, spray some WD40 or some lubricant on the latch assembly.

Can,t open gas tank latch

The cable hooks up to the latch under your left foot and goes back to the latch on the gas fill door. I believe you can take the trim loose from the trunk to see what the cable is doing. May have snapped or something on the latch near the fuel door broke. You should be able to manually open the door.

Gas door wont open when pushing release lever, Trunk release works OK when pulling on same lever. How can I open Gas door without pushing on lever? What is the fix? Has enywone out there had this problem?

Try removing the plastic lever handle to see if it will let you push the lever further towards the floor resulting in more tension on the (hopefully not broken) cable.

Take a plastic knife like you would get at Wendy's (or anything you can think of that would work better) and wiggle it in the center of the right side of the fuel door. You're trying to depress a trigger and pop it open. Forcing can bend the inner latch but it can be bent back. After you get it open you'll need to do some adjusting or diagnose if the cable is broke. Even though it's the same lever, it's two cables.

Fuel tank door release, 2004 Honda Civic

The release cable is sticking or broken. To release the fuel door, open the trunk and pull off the fabric liner on the left side of the trunk. Behind this liner is the fuel door release cable; this cable leads to the fuel door and attaches with a twist-lock connector. It is cylindrical with two tabs. Twist the connector clockwise about 90 degrees and it should pull out, releasing the door.

Just remember, the fuel door will not stay closed until you put the connector back in.
