I am working on head gasket and i took the timing chain adjustor tension loose cos i cannot turn the crank over to line up so i thought something inside might have jammed so i marked it up with tippex and now i want to sort the timing chain line up like the crankshaft marking line up at the top but what about the crankshsaft do i turn 1 4 piston to TDC ,it that is the right cranksshaft line up ??? can u help me plz i apprecaite thank u

thank u very much , i give it go tomorrow hopefully if my cylinder passed pressure test anyway cheers u are star :)thank u very much , i give it go tomorrow hopefully if my cylinder passed pressure test anyway cheers u are star :)

To set the timing you should turn the No.1 piston to TDC, then turn the cam to where both valves on No.1 are close. The timing mark on the sproket should now be in line with the mark on the cilinder head. With No. 1 still on TDC fit the chain.
After fitting turn the engin a few times by hand to make sure there's not a valve pushing against a piston.

Check compression and timing. Then check sensors(MAF, oil pressure sensor). Don't crank engine too long. Cranking engine may pour a lot of petrol into your engine oil.
Yes its very possible possible that valve damage may have occured when the belt failed.I would suggest that you reinstall a new belt and attempt to crank the engine.Theres a chance it that it did not bend any valves. If it does not crank then cylinder head will have to be removed for the repair.
when you got the chain on and the cam's timed and unloaded and locked the tensioner and installed the tensioner then the shoe guides did you unlock the tensioner before you turned it over
when you turn the engine over it will have a little bit of slack because it's only spring tension
double check the engine is timed correct don't worry about the colored links they only line up every 35 revolutions
if the crank and the cams are in time
you should be good
hope this helps
Hi unsure what you mean by change the torque settings, if you mean on the head question is why? If yes for head, there is a tool for that & go to Download PDF search | PDFTown.com for more info
