Hi, you will need to inspect the oil pump screen. it is clogged. normally when the light illuminates at low idle, its because of a clogged oil pump screen. Here is a little description about this device.


Also known as an oil pickup tube, this strainer assembly in the inlet side of oil pump circuit screens out larger impurities and debris before they enter the pump. A finely woven mesh screen is on the sump end of the assembly, and the opposite end of the assembly either presses into or bolts to the oil pump.

• The oil pump sump screen, or pickup, must be checked to be sure it is clean.
• A new oil pump does not come with a new screen.
• Some rebuilders replace every screen with a new one.
• A plugged screen can ruin a new engine in a very short time.

The idle may be to low or the motor is just old and a new set of rod bearings is need with an oilpump to bring the pressure back up.

Oil pressure switches a normally located by or near the oil filter on all cars. :-)
