Yuk xl 05 will not shift into 2nd gear.RPM's goes up .trans hot

Check the fluid. Then have the codes read. It may have a bad shift control solenoid. The CEC may hold the key to your repair.

You might have the cable from the throttle body to the transmission out of adjustment, or disconnected (or vacuum line)

These are often critical for proper shift points on older vehicles.

take to trans shop to replace shift solenoid in trans pan

take all wheels off the ground use jack stand,start engine up and put car in drive and let it run for about 5 mins, with wheel off the ground it should shift gears better, if it do you to change your transmission filter and oil, VERY IMPORTANT TO CHANGE OIL WHILE IT IS HOT! check oil to make sure no metal is in oil or heavy shavings, if shavings or metal is present you need new tranny,measure the amount of oil you take out put same amount back in, i really dont think you got a speed sensor problem you might have too much milage on your yukon, hay mon sure you service your yukon on time or else ford will excort you home, good luck mon and big up u self

Check your fluid level. The Transmission Control Solenoid may be failing or the transmission filter could be clogged.

Does the trany fluid smell burnt? Might want to have the trany flushed - torque converter too - and replace the filter in the trans. FYI you may know this but it is not recomended that overdrive be enabled when pulling a trailer - especially a heavily loaded one. Does your town have lots of hills - this is an added stain on the trany.

I would start with a transmission fliud and filter service.

I would then have the trasnmission checked out by a transmission shop. The transmission most of the time has the direct drum band is starting to go. The shops can rebuild it no problem, This is a very common failure wiith the trasnmission.
