Run fault codes and check for TCM fault check and change transmission oil and filter. Have the bands and clutch packs adjusted.

Are we referring to a manuel tranny or automotic? If its a manuel tranny, you have a bad syncro in the transmission. This would require a complete tranny tear down.

You may need a tune up . When was the last time you changed plug wires and had a decent tune up that will cause a vehicle to jerk when reaching higher gears the more strain on the engine the more it will jerk!!!

What Gearbox should be in a 1991 BMW 525i E34

Hello,

The safest way for you to know which gearbox fits your car (second hand) you first have to go to a parts shop with your VIN and get the code and the model for your gearbox.

Don't just rely on car year and engine power.

Hope this helps

run fault codes and check for TCM problem. Have the fluid changed and the filter cleaned out and while the pan is off have the bands and clutch pack adjustments checked.

Vauxhall astra 1.8 auto will change up the gears starting off but when in d4 wont change down have to put it into 3 2 1 manually aalso the light with the spanner is on

take the vehicle to your local fault code reader and plug the vehicle in to diagnostic equipment and go into the gear box control unit just like the E.C.U but for the gear box this should tell you any faults if this does not come up with any thing then try draining the oil and refilling with fresh I have known auto boxes play up just from old box oil if you are saying you hav a light on the dash then to save your self time messing with gear box oil (witch has a really nasty smell) get it plugged in first to eliminate electrical faults first hope this help good luck

Ford Kj Laser Auto gear changes **** the car while driving

if you know nothing about cars then I suggest taking it to a shop that specializes in transmissions. if you insist on doing it yourself, get a repair manual that covers your vehicle. should cover it.

MY G6 SEEMS TO BE SHIFTING THROUGH THE GEARS HARD. ITS LIKE IT JERKS FROM ONE GEAR TO THE NEXT. IT IS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISION WITH ABOUT 55,000 MILES ON IT. WHAT COULD BE CAUSING IT TO DO THIS

YOUR problem is that the pump in the auto matic gear box which works the gear changing and forward band ,either isent getting enough trans oil ,or the filter OR body valve in the pan on auto box is not alowing the pistons to operate as they should
SO the answer is to take it into the auto matic people and let them sort it out for you as if you try to fix it your self and you could do a lot of damage and then you would be up for a new g/box assy, Ron
