SOURCE: Broken hood release on 98 chev 1500. How can I get it open?

those are cable operated if it's broke at the lever in the car find the cable end and pull it with a pliers, if it's broke at the release under the hood it's going to a little harder you will have to get up under the hood and manually release the hood before you can replace the release lever

SOURCE: hood latch cable is broken on my 99 chev cavalier

is the latch from the interor car broken, or the locking mechenism to release the hood not working?

Either way its a simple fix just requires the hoot to be open.

SOURCE: hood release won't release hood on my 92 chevy

You'll have to see first if the cable has broken at the release lever, if so, use vice grips or something similar to pull on the cable that is sticking out & it should open it. Normally this works it it has broken as that is the wear point. If it isn't broken there or you can't see where it is broken, or even worse, it it is just loose, then you'll basically have to get access to that cable somehow & pull on it. There is the off chance that you can see the mechanism from the front through the grille & can fish the wire out to pull, or use a coathanger to pop the latch. If all else fails, you'll need to get the replacement part, then carefully cut through the cable you are replacing so as to preserve the inner cable enough to pull & open. The whole idea of the remote hood opening was to prevent anyone from easy access. good luck

SOURCE: hood latch cable fails to release hood when

I would try pushing down and pulling up on the hood while someone operates the hood latch. I'd try to spray some WD-40 between the hood and grill area. From underneath, you may be able to use a long screw driver to try to move the release lever over to release the hood.

if you try to look inside( between the hood and the grill) , you will see the latch with two bolts holding into it.remove the two bolts using a extended tool.then the hood will released.

How do i open the hood on a 1998 chev silverado if release cable is broken

The best way is to reach up from underneath and pull the lever that the cable is connected to while someone pushes down on the hood. This should release it. I've seen some ppl bust a piece of the plastic grill to get to it, but there is no need. Good luck

Hood release cable is broken. how to get the hood open

you can either go from under front of vehicle, and use a few extentions to take hood latch off to open hood. or take grill off if possible to get hood open. from the inside of vehicle, if there is cable you can grab onto. just take a pair of vise grips and pull on cable. have a good day !!

My hood release wire is broken on my 92 chevy lumina van and I was wondering if there was some way to get it open

If you can get under the van and using a flash light look up to the bottom side of the hood. You will see a lever hooked into a rectangular loop. take a pair of plyers and pull on the wire to open or take a piece of round metal and have someone puch down on hood and you can push the hook for the hood

Broken hood release on 98 chev 1500. How can I get it open?

if it is broken at the handle you should be able to grasp the cable with pliers to pull it otherwise you will have to go out front of truck and the best way i found requires long arms, but you would have to use a flashlight and slide under front bumper and look upward to find cable/latch assembly. You may be able to do it through the grill but if cant see it through the grill under neath.if you in front of truck pull latch to right and it will release.
