SOURCE: My tail lights stay on when I turn car off

It sounds like your brake pedal switch is not working right. Are the lights on all the time, or just when you turn ignition off? If the former, it is bad brake switch. If the latter, you likely have a bad ground located somewhere in the wiring harness.

Most vehicles have the switch located on a small plate next to the brake pedal arm. Follow the pedal up the arm and to the firewall. Along the way you should see a plunger style switch that looks like the one that you bought. It might also be found inside or next to the brake booster under the hood.

SOURCE: 94 altima brake lights won't go off draining the

I encountered the same problem. I noticed on the driver side floor that there were a couple of small broken pieces of black plastic. The pieces of plastic crumbled off and are spacers that sit o the brake pedal lever. The make contact with the brake light switch as well as one that makes contact with a switch that activates the release on the automatic transmission. I fabricated to small rubber grommets to the same thickness and glued them to the same location and the problem was solved. I accessed this by removing the lower fascia/plastic body component to gain better access to the area. In all the fix took about ten minutes. Good luck.

SOURCE: Nissan Altima 1995 Brake Light swith staying on

I know this is outdated but for those with this problem which i had too, it is a rubber stopper that attaches to the brake pedel itself to keep the switch depressed on my car for there is 2 switches and there is 2 rubber stops attached to the brake pedal. this being gone will cause the brake lights to stay on all the time.

What would cause brake lights to stay on after turned off on my 1997 nissan truck

Some nissans have a plastic button on the brake peddle lever that the brake switch contacts. This button breaks and the post on the brake light switch then can travel through the hole were the button was.
If you have a manual truck nissan mostly have the same button on the clutch peddle lever which can be used until a replacement is found. Or you can disconnect the wires from the brake light switch to stop the battery being drained.

Break and battery light stays on all the time

sold all over earth, what country> we cant guess this....
don't break the brakes....!!!
my guess, you meant the
brake lamps are on keys in pocket. and the battery lamp is dash(charge) glows, keys in pocket. right?
and battery cable kills all this illegal states above. sure.

86 nissan PU.
720 PU>? Datsun>?
or D21 Nissan ( 1986 Dat-SUNS became NISSANS. in USA)
Model years 1986.5 (second half) and later were called Nissan Hardbody Trucks, chassis code D21.

D21 are called HARD BODY trucks. mid year changes.
so???? which is yours.

as you might not ,know , the models are wired diffrent by different exact models and country.
long ago , i had the 86 with the VG30 V6...

so i will roll the dice and answer for
D21
ok?

things off stay on, 101
bad wiring, hacked in wiring, radios, alarms and other things.
all can cause this..... its old and is common on old cars.
but if wiring is not hacked, (id see that in 10seconds in person)
no hacks.
gas engine car not diesel.
USA 86 body
brakes
Im looking now at the schematic and this car has a hot at all times
brake lamp switch. (foot pedal switch)
SO only a bad switch can cause this.... period
now the dash charge (battery ) light stuck on.

my online source ,has the alternator system missing.
so can not comment.
the lamp gets its power from the key switch
if the key switch fails , all warning lanps glow not just the
charge.(battery)
so its not that
my best guess is wiring errors, that put power the the cluster
key off. id bet that is it .

wiring errors to the ignition output is side, key switched power is failing.

Nissan altima 1996, cabin fan blower switch works without the ignition key. If I forget to turn off the fan control switch it drains all battery.

Either the blower switch wiring has been altered, or you have a short to power in that circuit. The dash controls are not supposed to have power without the key. Are there any other functions that stay on with the key off? Stereo? turn signals? This would indicate a problem in the ignition switch, which is where all power must go through first.

Interior lights and tail lights don't go on for 2002 nissan sentra

you most likely have blown 10amp fuse for tail lights in the fuse box under the hood as far as tha tail lights go. turn your lights on and check your tail lights along with the plate lights. plate lights are on the same fuse as the tail lights. there is a fuse box by the battery which has tail light fuse in it. the lid of the fuse box is showing location of fuse. as far as your interior light goes, make sure that you have the switch in "door" position or it will not come on when door is opened. or just put it into "on" position to see if it comes on. but turn it off or put it back to "door" position/middle seting or your battery will drain down.

On my 1991 Nissan pickup, the tail lights stay on even with ignition and light switch turned off. It's drained the battery so my only solution is to remove the bulbs. Any suggestions ?

Are you sure it is the tail lights, or could it be the brake lights? If it is the tail lights, the light switch should be replaced. If it is the brake lights, there is a switch operated by the brake pedal whitch could be stuck or otherwise inoperative and should be replaced.

My tail lights stay on..they do not turn off. the car tail lights stay on.. even when car is not.

your brake light switch is stuck. I've had this problem before myself. The switch is usually located up under the dash(drivers side) at the back of the brake pedal. just reach up to it and pull it back out. you can get a new on at the auto parts store, and take about 10 minutes to change. hope this helps, and please rate. helpful or not
