Pontiac aztek awd disabled

I had my aztek towed. After getting it repaired the AWD disabled light is on. The repair shop says the tow truck driver turned the AWD off. They don't know what to do.

I took it back. They tried looking for a solution on the internet, then hooked up the car computer to my aztek to diagnose the problem. Then they told me to look it up on-line myself and if I found a solution to print it out and give it to them so next time they know what to do. Can you believe that? Guess I will call the dealer today.

Mine does this same thing...After taking it to the dealer and paying lots of money I found the solution my self while changing the Driver Side tire. Look behind the tire there should be a little plug for the abs if it comes un plugged in any way or loose then it will disable the AWD. Worked for me hope this works..

Go back to the the repair shop they need to fix this for you. If they give you some line that the tow truck turned it off then tell them to turn it back on. I dont know how many times repair shops will blame other people for things. I dont know the reason for needed the car towed but i have seen places miss treat cars resulting in broken plugs and such that get hit while repairing other stuff.

Dont let them tell you its not there problem. Make sure they know it was working before you brought the car in.

Let me know what happens

Good luck

2003 Yukon Denali, AWD. Was towed. now whining front end. Next a big clunk, sounded something broke up front. Car running with clanking sound, not in park, won't move. No forward or reverse gears.

I need to know how and why it was towed. Any and all AWD vehicles must be towed on a flatbed. If two wheels are left to spin on the ground. The drivetrain system will be damaged. If the vehicle was towed on a flatbed. I would need to see if the tow truck driver improperly installed their restraint chains and damaged something underneath. There is no way to provide you with an estimate. Unfortunately the vehicle needs to be towed to a capable repair shop or Dealer for diagnostics and estimate.

Looking for the kind of fuse needed for a awd 1997 subaru lagacy. had the car towed this morning and the tow driver said my fuse that regulates the awd was blown???

There is a fuse box in the engine compartment on the passenger side labeled FWD and, under normal conditions, should be empty. The user manual indicates that a fuse can be installed in order to disable AWD. This should be done if you are using the spare tire, the car is to be towed w/o a flatbed and when the front and rear wheels aren't the same.
I imagine that the driver checked this fuse box and found it empty and told you the fuse was blown... does this sound about right?
With the fuse installed you will get a warning light on the dash (red FWD) to remind you that your rig is running in FWD mode...
This FWD fuse box is only present on AT models.
Why was the car towed and did they lift the front end or put it on a flat bed?
Cheers, immorion

I have a 2004 Pontiac Aztek. The AWD Disable and Anti Lock lights are on and it doesn't want to accelerate? Anyone know or have had this problem?

The AWD Disable and Anti Lock lights can result from a bad wheel bearing as well as a bad speed sensor. They'll also come on if you have the spare tire on. Not sure if the acceleration problem is linked to the warning lights. Most car part stores have scanners they can check out the problem.

Service vehicle soon

all these lights are probably associated with the abs.. have the abs scanned at an autozone or another shop and probably will determine a front hub assembly (abs sensor ) is bad.

2002 Pontiac Aztek - AWD disable light and Anti Lock Light

AWD disabled from a sensor unit in rear differential that senses high temp. This thing is over $300. Whine is from fluid. Need to change fluid. This versatrack fluid is about $40 per bottle and you need 3 bottles. Thumping noise is from loose rear knuckle bushings. These are part of the entire rear knuckle assy. and you must replace complete knuckle.

Anti-lock n AWD

Call the dealership. I seem to remember that Pontiac had a recall for this problem just recently where the antilock brake system would lock op and the system caused people to get into accidents. This is a manufacture defect
