1999 buick park avenue, having trouble with pumping gas in the tank. The gas nozzle keeps cutting off as if the tank is full,so we can only get a few gallon at a time. Need to know about the vent to the gas tank or in the gas tank. Car has recently had a new fuel filter installed. Any tips.

99 Buick regal fuel leaking at fuel tank when I fill up

You will have to have someone get under the car to find out where the leak is coming from. It could be the gasket for the fuel pump on top of the tank, the rollover valve, the vent, or the filler hose going to the fill pipe.

With my 2005 Chrysler Town and Country van, I have trouble fueling the vehicle. The nozzle keeps shutting off as if the gas tank is full. What do I need to do?

Usually a sign of a blockage in the vent pipe inside the filler tube, or the vent for the gas tank. Air pressure inside the tank has to be equalized as the fuel is added.

2000 buick park avenue gas gauge problem

Sending unit is bad. but as said check the wiring first. sending units in chrysler vehicles are part of the whole pump unit that is inside the tank. The whole assembly must be replaced. The unit does not cost too much, but the labor can be intensive...Good Luck

1999 buick park avenue gas gauge fouled

You may be right. the float (sending unit) may be bad . i would also check the connections to sending unit and pump. this is located at rear top area of the gas tank.

the last thing that i have seen is the baffle inside the tank breaks free and moves around in tank banging into sending unit (float). when you remove the sender and pump form tank stick your hand into hole and make sure baffle does not move. if it does then tank must be replaced.

There is a ground to the frame in the rear area of the tank. i would look at that also. if you follow black wire from connector you will see it go to frame or to be specfic the unibody. i dont think it would be that but just make sure. if it were to be that wire you would have fuel problems but who knows for sure there sometimes two grounds, one for pump and one for sender. good day.

How to replace fuel pump

Disconnect the filler tube and overflow hoses from the tank. Place a floor jack under the fuel tank. Unbolt the 2 straps holding the tank to the body. Lower the gas tank some, disconnect the 3 fuel lines and electrical connector from the tank. Lower the tank down, remove the lock ring that retains the fuel pump in the tank. It may help with installing the tank, to drain the gas from the tank.

Car will not accept gas

try pulling back a little on the nozzle, the tank has an anti rolloverball in the pipe and this sometimes cause it to shut off when the nozzle is stuck all the way into the filler pipe
