SOURCE: Door not closing, mechanism not ingaging

I had the same problem of the door not closing because of that little mechanism locked down. I kept wiggling and poking the little mechanism and it finally let up after i just pulled open on the inside door handle. hope this helps.

SOURCE: Door Latch will not engage

It sounds like one of the door handles is not returning alowing the pawl to latch, Lubricate, the latch assembly, making sure you work the inner and outer door handles. Also roll the window all the way down, and look down through the slot to see if you can get some spray lube at the back side of the latch, if so lube again while working the handles. Spray the pivot pionts and sliders on the handles.

Hope this is of some help.

Make sure it is not binding/sticking where you pull the release cable.

Drench the entire works in WD-40. Push it back and forth until it moves with no resistance.

Make sure the part that hooks onto the latch hasn't come loose enough to not slide over when it makes contact.

If that doesn't work, take the whole thing off. You'll have to anyway to replace it. Chances are with it disassembled you'll see what's wrong.

First try spraying PB Blaster or WD-40 into latch unit. If that does not help, may have to remove latch from car and investigate operation.

They are stuck and need to be lubed. Use WD 40 and spray the latch on the door. Then close the door and open it a few times to work the spray in. Then spray it again it should work just fine.

TRY SPRAYING SOME WD-40 ON THE LATCH! MN DOES GET EXTREMELY COLD IN THE WINTER! MOISTURE CAN GET IN THE LATCHES, AND CAUSE THEM TO STICK! IT IS RECOMMENDED TO SPRAY A LUBRICANT LIKE WD-40 IN ALL LATCHES (I.E. HOOD, DOORS, AND TRUNK, TO KEEP THEM FREE OF RUST, AND DEBRIS!

My door ajar light stays on in my ford f150 king ranch crew cab

Have you tried WD-40 in the door latch ? Some times the contacts in the door latch get gummed up, and the door switch stops working. A good soaking on the door latch, and close / open a few times and another soaking of WD-40 usually does the trick with the door latch switch.

We live in a cold state (MN) and this year though it hasn't been incredibly cold our 2000 Kia Sephia constantly freezes shut. The power door lock on the driver side won't move from the inside or the...

part of the problem with being in such a cold place is even tho its so cold there is still moisture in the air. if you door wont close or open, you need to check the latch out and make sure its not just bent. as for not being able to unlock you door. the latching system is connected to the lock and handle. if the latch wont move don't use wd-40 that will make it worse. you need to pull open the door panel and get it greased with a grease gun. wd-40 will not keep the parts moving in that kind of cold. if latch wont reset
when you get it open, it wont close. just grease it up. oh it would help if you get water guard for your windows. protect you parts from freezing. take care.

Right passenger side door wont shut child lock safety stuck

child lock on should still let you open and close from the out side .
Make sure the door is unlocked and check to make sure the latch did not relatch it sef before shutting the door if it did take a screw driver and manualy open it by pulling the outer door handle and popping the latch back open with the screw driver. if this is not the case then most of theese problems can be fixed whith a can of WD-40 and just working the latch back and forth
