I need to know how to change the serpentine belt on a 1994 chevy cavalier

    • 1 Open the hood, and locate the auto-tensioning bolt in the center of the pulley system. This bolt will be in the center of a pulley that does not appear to be connected to any component.
    • 2 Turn the auto-tensioning bolt clockwise with a socket wrench to release tension on the belt.
    • 3 Slide the belt off the pulley system.
    • 4 Orient the new belt on the pulley system according to the belt path printed on the underside of the hood and next to the hood latch mechanism on your Cavalier. Leave slack in the belt around the tensioner pulley.
    • 5 Slide the belt over the tensioner pulley while you have the auto-tensioner pulley bolt turned clockwise as far as it will go. Make sure that the belt is sitting centered in all the various pulley grooves on the pulley system.
    • 6 Release the tension pulley bolt, and apply tension to the belt. The auto-tensioner will automatically apply the correct amount of tension on the belt.

How to change serpentine belt on 2000 chev blazer

There is tension held on belt by a pulley. You need to release tension and slip belt of nearest pulley. Use a socket and ratchet on the tension pulley to release tension. Make sure there is a diagram of belt routing before you take belt off. Make one yourself if there is none under the hood

How do i release tension on a 2004 pontiac vibe

Take note of the tensioner pulley and the tensioner arm that extends from the pulley. The tensioner pulley is the smallest pulley and has a metal arm extending from it. A bolt is located near the top of the arm. Place a ?? mm wrench on the tensioner arm bolt and rotate it forward to relieve the tension on the belt. Do not release the tensioner arm.
Pull the belt off of the pulleys and slowly rotate the tensioner arm back into its original position.

  • Step 3 Place a 15 mm wrench on the tensioner arm bolt and rotate it forward to relieve the tension on the belt. Do not release the tensioner arm.
  • Step 4 Pull the belt off of the pulleys and slowly rotate the tensioner arm back into its original position.

    Replacing belt and adjusting tension

The tension is controlled by the tension pulley. You need to put a wrench or a breaker bar on the tension pulley, it will move to release tension on the belt. Make sure you know the bet configuration before emoving it, you want to get the new one on right. The tension pulley is a pulley not hooked to any thing but the block..

Please leave good rating, it is very important to me...

I cant find the tension? I get it on the pulleys,

The tension release pulley, located just below and in front of alternator, has a 1-2 slot in the center of pulley. Insert the 1-2 inch breaker bar in middle of tension pulley and pull up, tension will be released. I hope this helps. Don,t forget to rate my answer, thanks.
