Check fuel pump relay.
Check fuel pump control cirucuit.
Check fuel pump/

It can be issue with fuel pressure,its low or the problem relates to faulty spark plugs.

can check these codes (if any) by jumping the A and B terminals at the diagnostic port under dash with key in on position engine light will flash and have to count flashes also sounds like it may have an air bound fuel system

Is the Service Engine Soon (or Check Engine) light illuminated on the instrument panel? If so, then have someone pull the codes and post them back here. Autozone will do this for you at no cost.Caution: don't purchase any parts after reading the codes on their recommendation! If no codes, then suspect either a bad crankshaft sensor or camshaft sensor. There are other possibilities too, but these are primary. I have seen MANY bad crank sensors do exactly what your describe without setting a code.

Hi - what was the solution??

Ive just had exactly this problem. Got new battery today then no idle. The car starts fine and runs for abourt 1 second then instantly dies. Its fine if you keep your foot on the throttle. Unfortunately if you are going downhill as soon as you place your foot on the brake the engine dies and the steering fails - then the brakes!!!

I seem to remember having idle problems the last time I replaced the battery. but not as severe.

Any how I got home after nearly crashing with starting the engine 20 times. Then with the engine off I pressed the throttle right to the floor and released.- and then restarted. That seemed to work for some reason ??? The Idle is now 100% ok although still a bit rough. But at least does't stall.
I cant see why doing anything to the throttle pedal/cable should affect the idle to be killed.?? even if the cable snapped it should still idle.
NB about 10% of the starts the idle actually idled ok for a few minutes before failing again

Any thoughts greatfully received

Misubishi service had no idea- said bring it in!!

IT CAN STALL FROM LAKE OF FUEL OR INTAKE LEAKS THE FAST IT WOULDNT RESTART LEEDS ME TO THINK ITS A IGNTION PROBLEM POSSIBLE BAD CRANK SENSOR, GET IT TOO A SHOP THAT IS GOOD WITH DIAGNOSTICS THEY CANSOMETIME STALL OUT WITH NO COMPUTER PROBLEMS ? BUT DUPLICATING THE STALL IDS SOMETIMES INTERMITTANT IS AGRAVATING TO TECHS SO BE PAITENT , HAVE SOMEONE DO A T.S.B. SEARCH FOR THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM MAY FIND A BULLETIN GOOD LUCK

I went through this scenario while working in a toyota sienna a few months ago and it ended up being the battery. When battery supply voltage starts to drop the PCM will limit voltage to certain areas.

if this a fuel injected car just check to fuel pressure first.
