4x4 switch just blinks will not go in 4 wheel drive replace acutour

look on the dash for a 4wd button or switch. may be located between the steering wheel and the radio. when you turn the knob to select 4hi, 4lo, 2hi, or auto, the indicator light above the corresponding selection will flash until the shift has completed. if the light stays flashing there is a fault in the 4wd system

Check the fuses of the lo and hi 4 wheel drive or disconnect the terminals put them together for ten minutes and reconnect and start and see what happens

Answer depends on which transfer case you have in yours. If the shifter for your 4wd has 2high( that's 2 wheel drive) as first position, you pull the lever back one notch and thats 4high (in 4wd) All the way back is 4 low (only used in very deep snow or pulling heavy loads, under 15mph) If you have two positions, (excluding N)
All the way forward is normal driving position...The transfer case automatically puts itself into 4wd when the rear wheels slip. 4low is as above, used so infrequently that most times you may find that the linkage is partially frozen (if so, spray with solvent and gently work shifter till it frees up)
Though it's not in the instructions, I find it's best to take your foot off the gas and select positions while rolling. It's just easier on the gears.

theres an air actulator on the front axel it is most likely bad it has two vacume line on it that come off trany is what it does is when you put it in 4x4 it locks the front hubs in when it quits working it wont lock them in so its just like its in 2 wheel drive if you have any questions feel free to ask hope this helps

Good Evening. 4high is a simple deal to get working. 4low has a few more steps. First of course is starting the truck, shifting down into neutral at a stop then put it in 4low. After doing so then put it down in drive 4low should now be engaged. And to take it back out of 4low simply reverse the operation. Any other questions let me know, becuase if it can do 4high the shifting motor can do 4low.

try selecting from nutreul or less then 3km

The switches are problematic on any vehicle that has automatic locking hubs. Your issue seems to be that the switch has gone bad behind the selector knob for the 4 wheel drive. I would pull the selector knob off and check for proper wire connection and make sure that there is no deposit on the terminals.

yes it is the switch. the switches are bad about going out in chevrolets which I am very familiar with. generally speaking if it goes into 4wd period it eliminates the actuator, and it also means t-case is functioning, it is just the selector switch.

The vehicle must be in neutral to shift into and out of 4LOW, 4HIGH is not for typical road use, anytime you have "fair" road conditions, the wheels will vibrate in 4wd. Use the AUTO 4wd when on a road that has a solid surface, mostly free of ice, it will only kick in when a wheel slips.

Start the vehicle put the 4x4 switch to the position the light on the dash states it is in. then put it in nuetral, hold your foot on the brake switch the 4x4 switch back to 2wd wait a few seconds and the light on the dash should switch back to 2wd. and you should be back in 2wd
