Auto shutoff relay or fuel control to the injector pump from the ignition switch..be checking the batteries for connection(or burnt thru solenoid because ecessive cranking will burn these up with all the amperage required to spin a diesel...)

I had the same problem with My 1990 F150 300 6cylinder 4x4.....I cahnged all the same things you did, finally I sprayed a can of Gumout through the throttle body and it worked and ran great. Now I add fuel injector cleaner to the gas and a regular clean with the gumout and the problem has'nt come back. Good Luck to you and hope it works!

SOURCE: engine block heater not working/truck wont start if cold

Hi bud876 did you get a faulty block heater? if the cord and block heater are new it should work when energized double check for power, as far as glow plugs do they cycle? is the glow plug relay working properly?you would be a lot better going with a circulating heater rather than a block heater, hope this helps good luck

SOURCE: 87 f250 drained brand new battery

I would first have the alternator checked by an auto electrician to ensure it is working correctly and is providing the correct volume of current. It may be faulty and when driving you will be drawing battery power instead of power from the alternator to run the electrics. This will drain the battery.

Alternators do not last forever and if you are still running the original unit it is likely to be on it's last legs and you will need a replacement unit.

Why did you replace the fuel pump? Did you test fuel pressure? Test the electrical circuit for the fuel pump? Do you know how to do that? Does it have spark? Put a spark tester on a plug wire an crank the engine. What fuse an relay are good ,fuel pump .

My 1987 ford ranger died on my way home from class a couple days ago. it had been getting bad mpg the last few weeks and reduced power. before it broke down there was no power or response of any kind when...

raw gas smell is a sure indication of a fuel leak,,,the fuel filter on my ranger is directly under the drivers seat attached to the frame,,,crank it over and look under for leaking fuel,,,takes an inexpensieve tool to remove filter if thats where your leak is,,,the filter wont come off without the tool,,its cheap to purchase,,under 4 bucks,,doesnt matter if it wont start,,just crank & check for leak,,check under hood also,,,
