Front fuel tank will not work

I have a 1989 for F150 with duel tanks. the rear tank will work all day, but when I switch to the front tank, it will run for about 10 minutes then start styaring for fuel, I found what apears to me to be the tank selector with the fuel lines and vent hoses going to it but no electical, not sure what if it is the selector. just need to get educated how the duel taks work to trouble shoot it

You have duel tanks with a fuel pump in each tank. You also have a fuel pump on the frame rail after the "tank selector". This device only holds a fuel filter that protects the main fuel pump. When you select front or rear tank on the dash, you are selecting which in tank fuel pump will operate. You can check the in tank fuel pump by listening for it to "humm" when the key is turned on..The in tank pumps only feed the main pump and cannot run the engine on their own. Hope this helps

92 f150 50 it has duel tanks front tank pump isn't working And the rear pump works but the!a tank has a bad leak. The front tank is plastic. Can I switch pumps and does each pump have its own relay.

a fuel pump is a fuel pump and a relay is a relay
relays only a high current direct to the pump without going through a current sensitive switch
so any relay on any pump will do the job

You need to check fuel pressure at the intake manifold for each tank, and see if you have a failing fuel pump. (Each tank should have it's own pump)

I have a 1994 Ford F150 XLT with duel fuel tanks! I have a full tank in the front tank, but when hit the switch for that tank, the truck goes dead! What is the cause of this?

common on older high mileage fors to either have the switch go out or the intank pump go bad, you cang ground terminal 6 on the underhood diag plug with key on engine off and switch from front to rear or vice versa and listen for fuel pumps to be running, likely one is not

1995 F150 (6 cyl) has duel tank fuel issue

To fix the problem you need to replace the switch valve on the frame rail. They shouldn't bleed into one another. When the system is working right they are independent and controlled by the switch on the dash.

Fuel Gauge not working

The switch that you use to change tanks is probably faulty - the switch supplies power for the sending unit in the tank, and to the transfer switch for the gas lines - use a meter to check it
