The car has been jumping like it wants to cut off for a while but it got worse then the battery light came on, I made it home turned the car off came back out a while later the car started but the battery light was still on I made it to the end of the street and it cut off and would not star back.I got the battery charged it started I went a little further and it cut off again. I got a new battery but the light is still on.
Christa, did you get the charging system tested or just replace the battery, sounds to me like you have an alternator that isn't charging. Get to any Autozone, Advanced Auto, Pep Boys and they will check it for free.

Auto salvage usually has used alternators (BOSCH) $35- $45. These are special alternators by (BOSCH) and somewhat of a bear to remove and install. While doing this I would recommend replacing you Serpentine belt.
Sounds like the alternator went bad. Or at least a part inside it, which amounts to the same thing. Most any auto parts store will test it for free. Call 3-4 diff auto parts stores for prices on replacement. The battery, if more than couple years old would deteriorate beyond recovery after being drained completely couple times. Actually removing & replacing the alternator (charger) may be the biggest challenge, though it's also often relatively easy. Here is a link to a video that should show what's involved. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&ei=Be-yUquqLIapyAGot4CIBQ&url=http://www.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DDCFMbzdVOuk&cd=2&ved=0CEIQtwIwAQ&usg=AFQjCNF8vugtsJHbwJGKYdw_yHrydLcduA&sig2=eVeESZw_Roq4uvWvqEMbzQ

There is a "crank sensor" that may need to be replaced - had the same problem with mine - it took the mechanics FOREVER to find out what was rrong

I'm experiencing the same things with my '03 l200. My mechanic replaced the fuel pump about 3 times before finally telling me it was the body control module. It will cost me about $260. On top of the problems you mentioned, my car also doesn't register miles in the odometer, and the dashboard lights flicker. He said all this was because of the faulty body control module.

A broken/burned motor winding will do exactly this. If you measure it when cold it will look good. The broken/burned winding will only open from heat expansion.

try your spare key it sounds like the transponder in the key is going bad

Had the same thing happen on my '02 Saturn L200 a few years ago. The brights would come on every now and then when using the turn signal, but after a while they would stay on and the turn signal/headlight switch handle would flop around. After taking it apart, it turned out the plastic on the inside was broken. The switch was relatively inexpensive (<$50) from the dealership and easy to install for the somewhat mechanically inclined.
