Hello I have a mitsubishi pajero 1992 model (GLS) 3000cc v6 automatic transmission. I turned the heater fan (the air blower) on a month ago and the temperature adjusting knob to maximum hot. But it blows only cool air inside. My first question is where is that fan exactly located. Second question is what could be the probable problems of the heater, and third question is how i can repair it by myself, without going to repairman's workshop. by the way I have enough time to work on it.

SOURCE: Temperature control knob won't turn to heating mode

You have to locate the cable between the heater core box and dash control knob most likely it is hung up someplace in between if you can straighten it out it will give you more cable length also look to see there may be a loose spring that need to be reattached.
wear safety glasses and get a good light you will need screw drivers needle nose pliers snap ties to hold cable in place

Check your antifreeze level and if low then add antifreeze until the radiator is full and the overflow tank is up to the correct level. that should solve your problem. If it isn't that, chances are your thermostat could be stuck open which isn't allowing the coolant to warm up properly.

Good Luck

Warning on the use of incorrect transmission fluids.
Info. below provided by assassin of The Mitsubishi Pajero Owners Club
Many people are using the incorrect specification in auto transmission systems requiring Dia Queen SP III transmission fluids, this is due to confusion arising from the fact that many people believe DEXRON III is suitable, IT IS NOT SUITABLE FOR MITSUBISHI AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS requiring SP III.

My pajero's automatic transmission is slipping. could it be the oil or would i need a rebuild, and if so how much does it cost generally. 1993 v6

Often the oil is neglected try a change first, it should be done quite regularly on autos. (and make sure you use a dexron oil http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DEXRON)
Gearbox rebuilds are costly, I fear on a 93 it would be dearer than the vehicle, however you might find a good second hand one.

Mitsubishi Pajero 1992 2.5 TD 1992 2.5 TD, A/T_tem light on

The AT Temp light refers to the temperature of the automatic transmission fluid. If worked very hard the tranny will heat up quite a bit and the switch will close telling you the tranny is getting too hot. If this happpens, park your Pajero and keep the engine running and allow the engine to idle, this will help cool the fluid and the light will rurn off. Given the year of your Pajero, a tranny filter / fluid replacement would be a good thing. I have a 1990 Montero (here in the US) and the over heat switch on my tranny failed so light was always on, had to replace the switch. I believe the switch can be found in a tranny coolant line.

Please let me know if this assisted you.

Thank you,
Tom
