Dash lights are very very dark around speedo and can not be lightened up by dimmer!

which maker of car
some cars are designed to have dash lights on when running

three issues
dash light .. faulty. on /off or dimmer switch

stereo could be a fuse

speedo not working ..
. speed sensor failure or
speedo sender issue

in what country, car is sold all over the earth, !
The dash tells me NOTHING. (but guess, background Illumination)
there are many things that glow in dashes.
like

1. warning lamps.
2. map lights
3. radio lamps.
4. speedo and tacho, back lighting (part of the PARKing lamps)
5. the dash dimmer knob if turned down kills #4 in cluster.
6. foot well lamps. glove box lamps. shifter lamps. etc. endless.

If you don't have the operators guide or FSM book,
then you cant know what fuse it is, can you,
nor where it is.

just sold my 04 GV, Hated it. and is YUGO status here now.
my guess is , driving in the dark the cluster is dark.
so, turn the knob to up, if still dark do this.
ours is H25 , 2.5L V6, and has its own wring system. guess, 3

20 questions, are the cars exterior park lamps dead.?
if yes , open hood, open fuse box.
see HL fuses. if blow , bingo.

my guess, 4 is HL dead. left. fuse 6
tell more get more, are park lamps dead, be top top clue1

when i see the dash lights go out i think of the headlight switch and the dimmer that they usually have. Pull off the headlight switch and look for overheating, melted insulators on the wires.

Could be a fuse or the dimmer switch for the dash lights.
Check your owners manual for details on which fuse to check.

Dash lights can have a dimmer control, sometimes built into the headlight switch. Any dimmer needs to be moved high to low and back to keep the connection good. If the lights flicker when the dimmer switch is moved, you may have to change the switch.

THERE SHOULD BE A DIMMER SWITCH FOR THE DASH LIGHTS ON THE LIGHT SWITCH TO BRITEN UP THE DASH LIGHTS

There is a dimmer switch on the dash board, try moving it around to see if it makes a difference. Sometimes the dimmer switch can wear out or get shorted out. If switch turns out ok, then you could have bad bulbs or circuit board

Check your fuses. The dash lights are on a different fuse. Also check dimmer switch. If its not one, then it is the other. Try working dimmer switch quickly back and forth( with the lights on when it's dark so you can see if they come on).

Two possibilities:
1. The dash light dimmer is all the way engaged. Easy to fix: just turn the lights a bit up
2. Problem with wiring. Need shop.
