it is located under the dashboard against the firewall of the passenger seat. i recomend buying a repair manual from your local auto parts store before attempting as it requires draining, flushing, refilling and bleeding the cooling system as well as removing many other componets like the entire dashboard and thermostat

SOURCE: How do I replace the heater core in a 1999 Lumina?

This will take a while, and finding a Haynes Manual for it will make it easier. All but the hoses are removed from under the passenger side dash and it's justa a matter of removing screws and panes until you see it. I wuld diconnect the battery as some of the wires under the dash are AIRBAG. Good luck it's not that bad a job.

  • Procedures for replacing the heater core vary with the year, make, and model of car. It threfore necessary to consult the manufacturer's repair manuals for the proper procedure for replacement.

  • Remove the access panels(s) or the split heater/air conditioning case to gain acess to the heater core.
  • Remove the heater coolant hoses.
  • Remove the cable and/or vacuum control lines (if equipped).
  • Remove the heater core securing brackets and/or clamps.
  • Lift the core from the case. Do not use force. Take care not to damage the fins of the heater core when removing.
  • To reinstall the heater core, reverse the removal steps.
When the heater core leaks and must be repaired or replaced, it is a very difficult and time-consuming job primarily because of the core's location deep within the firewall of the car. For this reason always leak test a replacement heater core before installation.

Will heater core on 1995 lumina and 1994 lumina interchange

The easiest way to see if a part will cross to other vehicles is to use an online parts store. Napaonline.com, autozone.com, oreilly's.com, etc. look up the part for the 95 and then check to see if the same part is used for a 94.

How do i change 92 chev luminas heater core

It is probably not the heater core do to most times when the heater core goes bad it stars putting water into the interior of the car. It may be the heater core supply valve or the blend door actuator is not working. Try warming the Vehicle, then carefully feel the heater hoses, are they both hot? If one is cooler than the other, You need to flush the core, or do a replacement job on the heater core. Also if the system has a heat control valve on the heater hose, make sure it is working! Also check the thermostat, and the temperature blend door, thats under the dash, in the heater plenum. You can flush this yourself, buy the prestone flush kit and install the tee in the heater return line. Disconnect the heater hose at the waterpump, clamp the hose in back of the tee you installed and back flush till it runs clear.20 mins or so.

How do you change 1992 chev lumina heater core

if the coolant level is at the proper level and the thermostat is good then before you pull the heater core out you can try disconnecting the heater hoses and drain or blow out as much coolant out of the heater core then connect separate hoses to the spigots and fill the heater core with CLR and let it sit for an hour before draining then flush out with water and repeat if necessary this sometimes works and you won`t have to remove the heater core.

AC/Heat issues in 2000 Chevy Lumina

If steam is blowing out when the heat is on, the heater core is leaking into the car. If water drenches the floor after running a lot on a humid day, the condensate drain tube is plugged. It is a rubber tube flattened on one end connected to the air box half mounted on the firewall under the hood. Check the coolant level in the radiator to make sure it is at the correct level. If it's not, then suspect a leaking heater core.

1992 lumina smokes out of heater, consumes more gas

your heater core has probably sprung a leak.does the smoke smell kinda sweet?....check the floor in the front where the floor mats are for moisture or even puddles of antifreeze.(the replacement of a heater core can be very expensive as the entire dash usually needs to be removed to access the heater core)also look under the engine near the firewall for antifreeze drips.
