I have a 2002 Audi TT Roadster that the car battery goes dead over night. I disconnected the negative terminal and connected a test light between the battery terminal and the negative post. I removed fuses one at a time until the light went out. Fuse #42 rang the bell. then I reiinstalled the fuses one at a time to see which ones turn the light back on.(except fuse 42). Fuses 11 & 38 turned the light back on. #11 is the clock, which makes sense. Fuse # 38 also turns on the light (central locking control module)which also makes sense. So fuse 42 is the culprit. It is the sound system, specifically the amplifier. the wiring diagram shows f42 is listed as "hot at all times". If this is the case what stops the drain on the battery?
I dunno, just a couple of guesses...do you leave ur radio "on" when you turn off ur car?...if radio amplifier causing prob, this would b the easiest to put a on/off switch on it..in the end if everything fails, get an on/off for positive battery side...
Testimonial: "Turning the radio off reduces the drain to .5 amps but doesn't eliminate it. I have considered an ON/Off switch but would like to have a definitive reason why this is happening before I resort to that."

the central timer module is located in the back of the main central fuse box. This module contains the time contol elements for the heated rear window, interior lights and intermittent wiper operation, the module also activates a warning buzzer when the lights are left on

Had a similar problem audi come into my shop. No headlights, blower motor would not work, wipers would not work. After dinking around found ignition switch wires had burn't up. Remove top steering column by taking out two very small philips screws from under column. Look at top LH side of column w/ top cover removed. Probably will find wires burnt up.

I installed a clamp ammeter on the negative cable. With fuse 42 installed, there was a 1.5 amp draw. 0 amps removed.
The original radio is installed. It appears that the amplifier is powered up causing the drain.
fuse 42 also powers internal monitoring
