Look around the "back" of the engine beside the transmission. The Starter connects to the flywheel to start the engine.
If you are replacing the starter you may want to consider doing this first;
) Have the charging system checked. Many auto parts stores and Sears will do this for free.
) Clean the battery terminal/connectors.
) Check the wiring from the battery to make sure it's good.
If you replace the starter yourself;
) Does your car have an anti-thief alarm ? If so find how to reset it if the battery is disconnected. Some alarms will shut down the car if the battery is disconnected !!
) DISCONNECT THE BATTERY.
) Disconnct the wiring to the starter.
) Remove the bolts holding the starter. Remove the harder one to reach first.
) Pull out the old starter.
) Put it the new starter.
) Bolt the new starter in. Put the easier bolt to reach first.
) Connect the wiring to the new starter.
) Re-connect the battery.
) If necessary reset the thief alarm.
) Take the old starter back for a core charge refund.
Good helpful advice. But...
Are you working from above or below the vehicle? If underneath, what about jack stands, wheel chocks, (or something 4x4, brick, etc.) to prevent roll back? Park? Emergency brake? Eye protection, goggles, safety glasses, etc. to keep falling crud out of your eyes?
It's always nice to think of safety when novices are involved. (Ex-Safety-Rep for a paper mill and an Ex-middle-school-Science-Teacher. Old habits die hard).

look around the bottom of the motor at the rear of the block on both sides. it should have a thick battery cable attached to it and a couple of smaller wires attached to it, one on the solenoid and one one the same terminal as the thick battery cable

I believe on that model the 3 front plugs are accessable from the front, but the rear 3 plugs you will need to get an upper plentum gaskit as well, because you need to remove the upper intake plentum to access the rear 3. I know it's a crappy set up, but that's how they make them nowadays. You're looking at about an hour's work to do it give or take.
