it sounds like youve replaced all the major parts but two, try changing dizzy, you see the electronic pick up in that year were not the best and renouned for causing exactly what you describe, also your coil may be faulty, as it heats up after its first few cycles when you start up, it weakens the spark the hotter it gets and then nothing. have you checked to see if its definitely spark?? if spark is the problem that should be the answer, give it a go, never junk a car, they all have their own personallity, lol. hope i have been of some assistance. matt

Do you have a shop manual for it?
Are you sure it is a fuel problem?
Do you have electrical knowledge to test for power to the fuel pump/injectors/computer?
What condition are the wire connections under the hood? If there is corrosion on some, then you may need to look for problems with wire splices in the wire bundles.
    Which model is it?

Does it have any of these sensors, coolant sensor, air temperature sensor, MAP sensor? Any one could have gone bad. First check your fuel pressure. Then you can go on diagnosing the problem. After you do the fuel pressure test post your findings so we can continue helping you diagnose the problem. Hang in there don't give up yet.

Replaced fuel pump, strainer, fuel filter, battery, computer, car will only start when you pour gas down air intake.

Sorry this vehicle does not have a fuel shut off switch or inertia switch > that's ford ! If you pour fuel in the throttle body an it runs It's something with the fuel system , an if you replaced the pump an filter an regulator , It has to be electrical ! did you check voltage at the fuel pump relay ? What engine does yours have , 2.5 , 3.3 L ? There is a in line fuse for the fuel pump near the relay ! There are four relays front right of engine compartment mounted on radiator support cross member . The one for fuel pump is the one on the inside . Fuse is near there an there is a connector not connected to anything ,this is for fuel pump prime . Jump battery voltage to it a see if it runs then ! or replace relay !

I have a 1990 camaro 5.7 tune port at first start up cold has extended crank but starts up runs a little rough after a while like 20 min turns off an just cranks but will not run. If I spray starting fluid...

What is the condition of the plugs, wires & air cleaner? Also, what is the fuel like that's in the tank. Poor fuel quality will make an engine act like yours.

Fuel pump diagnosis

vehicle wont crank? you have other issues. if it cranks but wont start then we may be looking at a fuel pump/relay/pressure regulator issue. the easiest way to test this is to simply buy a new relay( they are usually pretty cheap) or find a simular relay in your junction box or elsewhere, such as an a/c relay and switch it out typically if it fits it will suffice. how ever when they go out they usually go out completely. i would start by testing your fuel filter. remove it and try to blow throw it. if its good you should easily be able to pass air through it. if you cant or it seems restricted then replace it. if the studdering sounds continue after checking and replacing the filter and relay (both cheap parts, i dont know the year make and model but you should be able to replace both for around 30-40bucks) then its definitely your fuel pump and they typicaly run upwards of 100-400 bucks. and are a pain in the **** to replace as they are in the tank. just a side not some vehicle dont have and in line fuel filter, they have a "sock" on the pick up in the tank (jeep cherokee for example) other cars are well known for thier pumps going out around a certain mileage. let me know the year make and model and i can help walk you through the problem.

1989 Buick intermitent engine problem Buick Regal 3.1 V6 8th vin. T in nostart condition no fire @plugs no fuel pressure when cranking . Replaced : crank sensor ECM Ignition module ignition switch...

You did'nt say if you have had the car (Scanned) to see if the engine control Module has stored any fault codes. You say it runs 20 miles or so before it quits. After cooling does it alawys start back up? What have you been doing to get it running again? The ECM can warm up and quit. It'll get an Troblem code about though. The no spark at the time sort of removes the Cat converter overheating and the ingtion Module ( (the coils are mounted to it). Something getting too hot is likly. Crank sensers and cam sensers both wil do this the crank senser is on the back of the block just above the oil pan. The cam sewnser is underneath the power steering pump and the connector going to it is on top of the front valve cover on the passenger side. Crank sensers will not code and still be bad. Computers if they come back on ever they will code most any problem and the code name is Quad driver failure.

1990 geo storm wont start, no fuel, no stored codes.

can you hear the fuel pump when you turn the ignition key to start position??( you should hear it start then stop after few sec.) If not, this could be the fuel pump fuse, some bad contact in the wiring of the fuel pump or the worst case the computer.but if you do,unplug your main fuel line to the injector turn the switch to start position again to see if you have some fuel coming out.if not this could be the fuel filter or the fuel pressure switch! hope this will help you...lipak!..

2000 KIA Sportage

The car needs checked for codes the ingtion is more likly than fuel on this car Does it start right back up or do you have to wait awhile for it to start? The crank senser and the ingtion module and the coil are the causes and if it stalls adding fuel to the air intake should start it right back up. if its fuel or filter related how long does it run if less than a minute the filter is possible but if it has to run for awhile then the filter and the new fuel pump aren't whats wrong. if it starts right back up every time, wiggle the key switch as it tries to stall and if you can chatch it the switch can be bad and it happens alot.

Starts then stalls right away

Have you replaced the fuel pump run relay, this may be the cause of the concern, when you crank the engine to start the relay is bypasses, when it starts and you let go of the key the relay energizes and keeps the fuel pump running.
