95 saturn sc1 all of a sudden had engine light on and the idle just went way low, also effects how tranny shifts, but will barely stay running in gear with brake on. Sometimes it starts idling fine and shifting fine. But more times it is not idling good. Cold starts it wont high idle either. this just kinda came on no real warning????

sc1 means saturn coupe with a single overhead cam engine sl1 means saturn sedan with a single overhead cam engine same engine and same parts for both these cars

sounds like either you have 2 of the wires crossed.........one is loose....probably #1 or your #1 plug needs regapped or is not tight and losing seal....all will cause a misfire and set the check engine light

This is the automotive equivalent of a ***-change operation. In short, dont do it...
The problem you have is not if the tranny will fit (which it won't as a direct bolt-in replacement), the problem is in everything else that needs to be moded. Your engines computer is not programed to recognize or work with a manual tranny. You would need to modify the console to accept a manual shifter, install a clutch and clutch pedal assembly, plumb the needed fluid systems, and replace the entire wiring harness in the engine bay. In short, if you are asking - this won't go well and even if it did work, the car would not be reliable. By the time you spend everything involved in this project, it would be much cheaper to buy a 95 or 98 Saturn with the transmission that you prefer.

It is the tranny, the sincronizer for second gear is worn, you have two options, replace the tranny or, dismantle it to repair it.

I would take the vehicle to a local auto parts store that will put there scan tool on the car to find out what code was stored. Maybe they will have some possible parts that could be the problem.

have throttle position sensor tested.

this code is a transmission code and has a few different tranny sensors that is reads. you could just be low on tranny fluid or is could be the tranny axle speed sensor. odds are if its running fine now it is just low fluid but you could look into the sensor after that. the sensor is what tells the truck when to shift so thats could be why it went up in rpms if the sensor went out bacause then it would know exactly how to shift.

Try pulling the engine coolant temp sensor, They often crack not sure why but the ceramic tip cracks makes the car hard to start, the car's idle may race while shifting gears, and often smokes. The sensor is on the right side of the engine when looking at it on the head. Easy to change and get too
