The button on my 2008 Audi Gear Shift is stuck in (not popped out) and the shift is stuck in Neutral. Can not get the key out even when I turn off the car. Can't move the car at all or put it into any gear at all. Just stuck in neutral.

Only problem is if it fails, you cant get your car out of park. ...Those interlocks seem like they might be a solenoid that slides alock pin out so that you can move the lever freely. .... Did you try to pop the clutch? Did you mistakenly down-shift while still at high speed? did you try to down-shift for more torque while going uphill? You may have ruined your clutch.
All cars have a release button on the shift column for towing. Look for a little square or circle nee your shifter that you can pop the plastic piece off of. Usually you can stick a key or somethin to press the button down and put the car into any gear. I donf know if that helps you for now. You might also wanna make sure you have your foot on the brake when your tryin to put in into gear. Some. Newer carz wont lt you shift out of park unless you are pressing the brake.
Could be the brake switch or the shift lock solenoid. You may be able to turn the key lock to the unlock position, move the shifter out of park, then start the engine in neutral. The shifter and the shift lock solenoid would need to be inspected.
The lock shift solenoid that works withe break pedal has gone bad... it's located next to or In front of the shifter.. on some vehicles. You have a key slot that you can use another key or small screw driver in it to unlock the shifter. Just replace that and it should be fine..
There's a saftey cable attached to the brake. If that breaks or gets messed up you will not be able to get it out of park. There might be a key slot in the console,insert the ignition key, & try to move the gear shift. If you can get to neutral,it'll start & you can get it to a qualified shop,without a tow bill.
Tranny could be bad or the switch that indicates position not only to the start circuit and the backup lights. and allows the car to be started in neutral. whis swich can bind and may need replaced as it when removed should turn with little or no resistance
