Please post more info on your problem. Does the engine turn over when you turn the key. If it does what type of noises do you here when you turn the key if any. I am going to assume the car is trying to start but does not because the info here says no gas. The way to find out is to just add 3 gallons of new gas to the tank 1 or 2 may or may not be enough if your car is parked at an incline. That is the reason I suggest 3 gallons. Turn the key after gas is added for Only 3 to 5 seconds. If car does not start repeat 3-7 seconds. Try one more time if car did not start. If after this the car does not start please post more info on your problem and any different actions that happen after you try the above suggestion. Like the car making a different sound or is all the same.
I also need to know the year an make of your car if This does not fix the problem. Sometimes the fuel pump may need to be reset if you did run out of gas. But resetting it is different in different makes and models of cars. Also if you know the engine size please let me know example 2.8L,5.4L 350. If this did not fix it it may be a bad fuel pump or many other things but without knowing the car make model and engine size there are to many possibles to list. It does not sound like an expensive problem to me. Do it yourself 3 gallons of gas to around maybe 150 after we find the cause. If you have a good honest mechanic 75-250 dollars estimate. Good luck. post more car info if gas solution does not work.

So...no gasoline is getting to the engine at all?

have you checked the fuel pump relay? this might be the problem...."but if you have done and this is not the problem
then.....

it is likely that your fuel pump of the fuel filter is or are faulty.........

when was the last time that you changed the fuel filter?

After pumping gas there is a clicking sound.

No one can retrieve vehicle codes over the internet,
or tell you repair costs or what is wrong.
You have a MIL Lamp on your dash you have it
checked for codes & a repair shop will use the codes
to component test the issue.
Why would you replace a gas cap at all,if you have no
vehicle knowledge at all or don't understand what codes
are for or whatever code you had,you need help at a shop
I assume you have an Evap System Code such as a small
leak
When you ask for answers you have to provide the codes
& lot of details of what has been done so far to resolve
Did you you thinks brand new gas cap are sold to you three
time & they are all bad, really

SUV won't start, nothing happens when I turn the key

Very likely bad battery. Most places that sell them will install for free.

My car will not go over 55 mph/3rpm even with the gas pedal pushed all the way down. It also kind of catches when getting going.

I have to ask

Why are you even driving a car that has
whatever that problem is & doing so for
weeks or longer?

Surely you know that you have somewhat serious
issues, when a car won't go over 55 & gets worse!

What does catching mean?
Now it won't start or catch or go
over 55

When are you going to a repair shop?
Before you ruin something or have a costly repair?

2004 Saab 9-3 2.0turbo automatic engine stalls after refuel

sounds like a vacuum leak...take it to the dealer....cuz the number of vacuum hoses are too numerous, and not easy to follow, and is best left to a dealer mechanic [ yes pricey...sorry ] who is familiar with the vehicle.todays cars are just too complicated for the avg person to diagnose.....and trying to save money will just cost you in time and aggravation.

I have a 2000 isuzu rodeo i didnt notice it didnt have gas till the next morning put gas in then the car acted like it was gonna start but didnt then i left it alone the next day battery was dead ... does...

The first thing you should do is check the water in the battery. If it is low, add distilled water to it. Ask a neighbor to give it a jump start. If you get it started and the car has a voltage gauge, check the reading on it to see if it is staying above 12V. Drive it around for a 1/2 hr to let the battery charge some.

If the gauge never gets above 12V, then either the battery won't hold a charge, or the alternator is possibly defective.

If you do get it started, you could drive it over to your local Autozone and let them hook up a portable tester to it. They can tell you if the battery or the alternator is having issues and they check it for free.

The battery probably was discharged when you were attempting to start the car without gas and just needs a boost.

I am having trouble getting my 2003 vw passat started, it is about 1 degree outside and it is turning over but not firing.

I think it is carbon build up.What octane do you use if its lower then 91 like 87 or 89 it might your problem. Now it needs to be cleaned out.If you have tryed to start alot you may have gas in your oil.Every time you try to start your car gas is sprayed in to your head and if it dont start it runs down in to moter mixing with the oil so becareful and change your oil asap.I had the same prob and was told if you run less then 91oct then you need to give it some gas now and then others words open it up it cost me 800 to fix mine i whould try some injecter cleaner or oct boost first hope u get it started good luck

2001 sebring recently started sputtering at low rpms. Started after a recent fuel fillup. Tried dry gas and STP gas treatment. No change. Could this be a clogged fuel filter?

It could be but sounds like some bad gas, try using some octane boost because the gas you got might not have enough octane in it to run your car. So try using Octane boost and no its not the same as a gas treatment. gas treatment just cleans your lines and intake. Octane boost puts more octane in your fuel which is needed to run the car properly so try that.

I want better gas mileage.

It's True. On my diesel it makes about a 3 miles/gal. difference. It probably wouldn't be as much on a gas. Maybe about 1 or two mpg if you take it easy, but you will love the power increase (up to 30hp+), which will make it hard to take it easy. It will also give you firmer shifts. You can get programmers/chips on EBAY or possibly at a local performance shop. The programmers just plug under the dash and once the desired program is installed then you can unplug til you wanna change it. They cost anywhere from 300 to 800 bucks depending on the brand or features. I would recommend Superchips, Bully Dog or Edge. Hope this helps.
