I had the same problem, I first replace the output speed sensor, no fix, then the input sensor. Both located under air filter box. Easier to get to all the screws if you remove the battery. Input sensor is facing forward towards the frond end. The output sensor is under the cables linkage, which is directly under the air box facing the firewall.

Chances are that this sensor is located in the transmission or has access to it outside the housing.Take the car to a transmission specialist and have them give you an estimate. Most dealerships these days don't even do trany work anymore so save yourself some money and go directly to someone who can help you.good luck
It is a distinct possibility that it will be as you say. It is a sensor that communicates the speed to the TCM and ECM to change at the right road speed /engine rpm.
It is located on the outside of the transmission housing under the hood, it goes where a speedometer cable used to hook up on the earlier models Below is a picture of the sensor.
CODE PO501 VECHICLE SPEED SENSOR PERFORMANCE.POSSIBLE CAUSE IS FAULTY VECHICLE SPEED SENSOR.CHECK SENSOR WIRES AND CONNECTOR FOR DISCONNECTION OR DAMAGE.
Without knowing make or model Po725 is a Chrysler code for Engine Speed Sensor Circuit
Possible Causes-- Open or shorted CKP sensor circuit condition - Poor CKP sensor electrical connection - Check communication error between the ECM and TCM - Failed CKP SensorWhen is the code detected-The P0725 Codes is triggered when TCM does not receive the engine speed signal from ECM.Chrysler description-The Engine Control Module (ECM) monitors the engine speed through the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor with the engine running, and send signal to the Transmission Control Module (TCM
It probably only needs a new VSS (vehicle speed sensor). Since the ABS uses the wheel speed and vehicle speed to determine ABS operaton, is makes sense that the ABS light is on if the VSS failed. The computer also uses the VSS to operate your speedometer.
The speed sensor will be about $40-70 for a manual transmission and about $70 for the automatic transmission. You'll find the speed sensor in the transmission near the CV axles. It is likely you'll be able to reach it yourself and that'll save you money and a trip to the shop.
The OBDII reader doesn't necessarily indicate if the sensor is bad. It simply indicates that there is a malfunction somewhere with that particular sensor circuit. It is possible (especially in winter road salt areas) the sensor is good but its wiring connector is dirty or corroded, needing cleaning/exercising with a spray cleaner. Don't spend money on a sensor unless it's actually bad.
Which sensor? The solenoid pack is located on the front, under a black rubber cover, right under where the cooler lines go it. But this is only on the 4 speed Trans. If you have a three speed trans, there is no solenoid pack on the outside. Also the 3 speed does not have an input shaft or output shaft speed sensor, only a vehicle speed sensor.
