Pretty sure i know what the issue is i have had it happen.. Its the security system failing it really common i GM vehicles i guess. I took mine in and they wanted a ridiculous amount of money to fix it so i did a ton of research and found a module that you can install yourself i did mine 5 years ago and i havent had a problem since. check it out they have great customer service and if for some reason it does not work out they will refund you 100% hope this helps ya

there is no code its in the key. they sometimes will lose the required resistance.
there is a reciever for the signal on key in ignition and in the key.do you know if this is the type you have?

Your problem may be a bad ignition lock switch it is a common problem usually caused by worn ignition keys. I would get a new key and see if that don't solve your problem. If that don't work then you need to replace the lock itself they have a security feature built in them that won't allow the car to start unless the proper key is installed (sometimes a new key works) this prevent thieves from taking your car by using a screwdriver or by hot wiring ...This security feature is in the lock itself not in the key GM did put it in the key but not for your vehicle

I HATE those things. I had one in a f150 I bought .Had the exact same symptoms you describe. Made by Bulldog. Ended up removing it. No more problems after that.

Maybe by disconnectting your battery and reconnectting, you might be able to reset system.
