SOURCE: all dash warning lights came

Hatterasnc,

You're alternator has gone bad and the vehicle was running on battery power. The "clicking" sound is your now dead battery that does not have enough power to turn over the starter. You might also want to check your power steering pump for leak. This is a know problem with early LS400s and will most likey be the cause of the alternator failure. I just dropped $1050.00 to fix the very same promblems you have.

SOURCE: 2004 Lexus RX330 Battery Replacement

You just had to disconnect the negative off the old battery first. Then you disconnect the positive and it happens to touch metal it won't short anything out. Make sure you can not wiggle the cables, that the connectors at the battery can't spin or move at all. Tighten them more if necessary, try to start it. Let me know if you still have problems.

SOURCE: 1990 lexus ls 400 security system went off now

Your alarm is keep your system from starting. When the alarm system fails, you have 1 of two choices, if it is a after market alarm then just disconnect the alarm, if it is a manufacture alarm then you will need to take it to a company to have then replace the alarm or disconnect it. Doing so yourself you can hurt your vehicle more then help it

If car wont start and clicking sound is heard this is a battery related or starter related, if your car battery is in good condition (which I think it was) then the problem is your starter, have it check to confirm.

1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee will not start.

You need a new battery. The lights only take about 10 - 15 amps, the starter takes 200 - 400 amps, Replace the battery and all will be well

My battery seems to be very low in my key for my 1998 lexus ls 400. Can I replace the battery myself or is it tricky?

Usually not. Disconnect negative battery terminal, then positive. Next remove battery hold down (type is specific to car model). Battery then lifts out and replace with correct new one. Install is reverse.

1992 LS 400 Lexus. Car wouldn't start. New battery, thought was fuse problem, but no, towed in and mechanic says need new starter but starter under the engine block, will need new gasket for block after...

remove black plastic relay cover in plastic underhood fuse box and activate relay9006980.jpg with a very small screwdriver and ignition on. If starts, obviously the starter is fine, if not the starter is indeed bad and needs replacement so hold onto your ankles cuz it's gonna hurt.

Car Powers Up, No turn, No Click, Nothing but power

I had a similar problem. My 1998 Lexus ES300 wouldn't start. I had to change idle control valve. I don't have such problems ever since. I read that many used Lexus/Toyota owners had the same problem with that valve.
