99 intrepid electrical problems

POWER WINDOWS NOT WORKING & POWER WINDOW/REGULATOR ISSUES

It can be issue with motor itself. If it's not going up, then how its working down. But still it feels like weak window motor or is issue with power window switch. Get the voltage tested at switch and motor. Also try another working window motor at not working window side.

You have to remove the inner door panel to
access the window regulator

You remove the regulator & then the motor from it

You Tube Video will provide a visual of several
similar window motor replacement jobs

Go there-- enter your car,question ,details,etc--- then move
around the site to watch various things

It can be issue with motor itself.If its not going up,then how its working down.But still it feels like weak window motor or is issue with power window switch.Get the voltage tested at switch and motor.Also try another working window motor at not working window side.

Replace the fan resistor under the dash most likely in the area of the glove box underneath, it is screwed into the side of the heater box

Remove the door panel and find the window motor Unplug it and using a separate car battery run cables directly to the window motor When you switch the polarity the motor will either bring the window up or down or if noting happened change the window motor and window regulator assembly.

Try switching the power window switch from the passenger side to the drivers side. Before you do that try with the switch on the up position, wiggle it from side to side. The contacts may be worn and by wiggling it may make contact. Other then that try to park it in side or garbage bag taped to keep rain out till you get it to the shop.
Hint, take it to a Auto window repair shop to replace the switch if it's bad or if the motor is bad. They have more experience to removing the door panels and removing the power window regulator (motor) if that needs to be replaced.

Sometimes it's a bad regulator, sometimes they just stick in the run channel from a lack of use. Open the drivers door, turn the key on with the engine off and look at the dome light while pressing the window buttons. If the light dims slightly, the window motor is getting power. If it is just stuck, you can smack the center of the door panel with the side of your fist while pushing down on the button to jar it loose. Then lube the run channels and work the window a few times up and down. Sometimes you have to remove the door panel and smack the motor with a hammer to get it moving. The odds of all 3 regulators being bad at the same time is slim. Hope this helps.

I HAVE A 98 INTREPID AND I WENT TO A JUNK YARD AND JUST PULLED THE PASSENGER SWITCH OUT OF THE DOOR AND UNHOOK.WIRES....VERY EASY....PUT IN YOUR CAR AND THAT SHOULD WORK...ITS PRYS OUT OR PULL OUT WITH PLYERS....THESE SWITCHES CONNECT LIKE A CIRCUIT AND IF PASSENGER DOOR SWITCH IS BAD IT WILL NOT WORK FROM DRIVERS OR PASSENGER SIDE...98 TO 2000 ARE ALL THE SAME PARTS....HOPE THIS HELPS.....
