SOURCE: 1989 Corvette - Windshield Wiper Arm

On mine I lifted up the arm,at the base where its connected to the car there is a little metal tap that sticks out. Pick up on the tab,at the same time release the arm. It should stay up. Then kind of wiggle the base near the tab while pulling up on the arm.It should come right off.Its on a spline like stub.Try to put it back on the same spline teeth it came off of.This keeps the arm in the proper place. Once off its easier to see how the blades come off. Try calling a large auto parts store to see if they have your proper blades. Most large auto parts stores will install the blades for you for free if you buy blades from them.Dont buy the cheapest ones, they dont last.
I hope this helps you.

SOURCE: My back windshield wiper doesn't wipe the length

Get a replacement tension spring from the dealer. This spring is visible when you flip the wiper arm into the up position. Seems as though your tension spring may be weak which will cause poor wiping performance.

You will have to remove the wiper arm to replace it as it has to be installed in the down position..

Wipers dont work

This is a complex wiper system . Here are all the components involved !
The Wiper/Washer System consists of the following components:
?€¢
Windshield wiper/washer switch

?€¢
Body control module (BCM)

?€¢
Wiper 1 relay

?€¢
Wiper 2 relay

?€¢
Wiper diode

?€¢
Windshield wiper motor

?€¢
Windshield washer pump

?€¢
Windshield washer nozzles

?€¢
Windshield washer solvent container

?€¢
Windshield wiper arm and blade assemblies

?€¢
Windshield wiper transmission

?€¢
WIPER/SW 10A fuse

?€¢
WIPER 25A fuse

Circuit/System Description
The body control module (BCM) controls the wiper motor based on input from the windshield wiper washer switch. The BCM monitors the wiper washer switch through three separate signal circuits and a ground circuit. The windshield wiper switch high signal circuit is used to determine high speed wiper operation, the windshield wiper switch low signal is used to determine low speed, intermittent, and mist operation through the use of a resistor ladder, and windshield washer switch signal circuit is used to determine washer operation. The windshield wiper motor park operation is controlled by the BCM. The BCM recieves an input from the park switch to determine wiper blade position. When the wiper blades are at the bottom of the windshield glass in park position the wiper park switch will open and the circuit will be pulled up to B+ by the BCM. The park signal will be pulled to ground by the wiper motor park switch while the wiper blades are not in the park position.
The BCM controls the windshield wiper motor through two output controls, controlling two relays which determine the desired wiper speed, high or low
Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)
The body control module (BCM) monitors the voltage on the windshield wiper switch signal 2 circuit for diagnostic purposes. If the circuit is shorted to voltage while the driver is commanded OFF, the BCM will store DTC B3715. If the circuit is shorted to ground while the driver is commanded ON, the BCM will store DTC B3715. Refer to DTC B3715.
It would be best to have a factory scan tool to diagnose this problem . it would make it easier anyway .

96 volvo windshield wipers wont clean window

Assuming you have good wiper blades and have cleaned the windshield (no oil or other contaminants) I'm guessing the arms need to be replaced. The springs are failing to keep proper pressure on the blade allowing them to skip or lift at speeds.

How do I re-attach my wiper arms?

Start off by putting a cardboard box over the windshield and under the wiper arm to avoid breaking or scratching the windshield. You need to turn on the wiper switch and then turn on the key. When your wiper arm is pointing to the top of the windshield turn off the key to keep it there. Now, depending on the type of wiper arm you have ( bayonet, shepherd hook, L pin or straight arm ) depends on how to remove old arm. Shepherd hook is the most common and has a lock on the blade that needs to be pressed in to release the blade from the arm. Now slide the blade toward the windshield, off of the cradle for the arm. Swivel the cradle so you can slip the blade off from the inside of the arm and reverse procedure to install. The Bayonet, L pin and straight arm styles usually require a small flat blade screwdriver pushed between the body of the blade and the arm, then twist to release blade. Some blades also have a lock that will need to be pressed to release blade from arm, then twist screwdriver to remove. Hope this helps!!

I cant figure out how to change my windshield wiper blades on 2001 ford ranger

How to Replace Wiper Blades Guide (Typical):
Potential tools needed to replace wiper blades:
  • Flat blade screwdriver (small)
  • Small nosed pliers
  • Latex or vinyl gloves
  • Safety goggles
To replace wiper blades theactual action of replacing the blade is no big deal, it's the locationof the blade down below the hood that can make it difficult though.Sometimes it helps to open the hood to gain access to the wiper blades.Other times it is helpful if the wiper blade is somewhere in the motionline of wiper action. The trick is to get the wiper to stop somewherein the wiper arc. Turn the wipers to the on position and allow thewipers to start, and then shut the key off when the wiper has arrivedin a desirable position on the windshield. To replace your wiper bladesplease follow the step by step instruction below. Also, watch the How to replace wiper blades video below to gain additional information. The method in which the wiper blades are attached will vary slightly.
  • Step 1: With the hood closed, turn the wiperson, when the wipers are in the middle of their arc turn the key to theoff position. (Note: if this can't be done because of wiper conditionand you want to avoid scratching the windshield please open your hoodto gain access)
  • Step 2: Locate the mounting clips at the top pivot on the wiper blade
  • Step 3: Release the clip and remove the wiper arm
  • Step 4: Match the size of the old blade against the new blade to ensure proper fit and operation
  • Step 5: Reinstall the new wiper blade and recheck wiper operation

Common Problems:
  • Make sure the wiper blades are the same size as the original blades.
  • When replacing wiper blades not getting the blade onthe mounting pin completely allowing the wiper arm to become dislodgedand possibly causing damage to the windshield.
  • Using wiper blades after the blade has failed permanently damaging the windshield by craving scratches in the wiper arc.
  • Wiper blade can create a chattering noise when theblade is not properly balanced allowing the blade to "flop" back andforth as the wiper direction changes.

I hope help you with this (remember rated this help) Good luck.
