At 143,000 miles things will start to fail, the Jaguar line is very expensive to maintain, parts are really outrageous.

Hey mendozafamil,
Working on jags on a day to day bases i agree with emissionwiz. Especial that year, with that many miles your looking at spending alot of money in the future. The another thing not mentioned is that, working at a dealer and being a tech. I cant even find original parts for these cars.

So many times ive had these older cars come in, i go to the parts counter to get a request and jaguar either stop manufacturing the parts, or it is months even years before i can get my hands on them!!! The best product jaguar has put out is their newer cars 05 and newer were see less and less major problems.

Warning light comes on and stalls put in to neutrel starts ok .brake then light comes on stalls start goes in to limp mode ive got 1997 xj6 4l sov lwb thanks andy .turn off start up light gone out ok

Ok Andy, This sounds like a ddefective #2 02 sensor located afther the catallytic converter. This sensor is the critter that turns the light on and that means it is talking to the electronic control module. Either your fuel misture is way too rich or the cat converter is failing. Good Luck-Ned-

I have a 1990 xj6 jaguar. Two problems I am

Had a similar problem within the last year. Either your fuel pump is failing or your fuel filter is partially blocked. Change both and drive away.

1990 4.0 jag sov lifters making noise

No real worry, try adding some Marvel oil to it or using a decent synthetic oil. Either, or both should help get any gunk out of the hydraulic part of the lifters, and neither will do any harm. Don't expect the noise to disappear instantly though, it took a long time to get that way. Don't use any heavy additive or single grade oil (like 40 weight) That will jam up the oil control rings on your pistons.

1990 Jaguar XJ40 3.6, where is the fuel filter located?

Hi,
The fuel filter is located under the car, in front and in a little, from the L/H rear wheel.

Undo the 2 nut connections, and fixing clamp, and its off.

Remember no smoking !

Good luck !

A FixYa rating would be nice... Thanks !

John.

OIL ISSUE

I have a 94 4.0L and I use 10W-40 in the winter and 20W-50 in the summer. It keeps the pressure up and it doesn't smoke when I start it because of the valve seals. It takes 8 quarts everytime including the filter. 2 gallon jugs. I change it about every 4,000 miles.
