2001 Hyundai Elantra squeals 1. upon start up and upon locking the steering wheel in either direction.

2001 Hyundai Elantra squeals 1. upon start up and then goes away, 2. upon locking the steering wheel in either direction. Squealing only happens in cold weather. When locking the steering wheel (any direction) PS pulley and belt hesitate, like a stop n go rotation. Tightened belt a few weeks ago and problem went away. Weather got colder, problem continues. .

Could still be the belt. I've had cheap belts squeal, and an OEM belt works perfect. A worn out belt can do it too. If you can do it yourself, go ahead and plan on replacing it.

SOURCE: i just had my belts

check the tension. cheap belts will stretch. if after you retension them (especially the alternator belt) you may need to replace them with BANDO or OEM belts.

SOURCE: why does the power steering pump drive belt squeel under load when its cold on 2004 hyundai elantra.

this sounds like the belt is worn and needs replacing.when its damp and cold if the belt is worn it will slip easier under this condition than in warmer weather.also the belt tension may not be proper.if this has a belt adjuster that you can adjust then the tension may need to be tightened.if it has an automatic belt tensioner(one that adjust tension all the time)like a serpintine belt then the tensioner may need to be replaced as the spring that crates the tension do get weak over time.

Installed a new power steering cooler line in a 2000 Hyundai elantra. My question is how do u bleed the system. Squealing and hard to turn

Best way to bleed ps syetem is to jack up front wheels, to remove the load so you won't have squealing as you turn the steering wheel side to side many times to remove the air in the system.

I have a 2005 Hyundai Elantra. I went to start it, and the key went in fine, but will NOT turn to start. The steering wheel is locked, and the automatic transmission is in PARK. The battery is NEW, and the...

Try rotating the steering wheel in both directions while applying rotational force on the key.

I have had this problem on a F150 where the person pulled in their driveway and proceeded to turn the car off but turned the wheel while the powersteering was still on, when the engine stopped the steering wheel rotated and locked from the force of the truck.

Hope this helps!

Sounds like a bad steering rack.

The pump stops because the fluid
can not flow for some reasons, when
you turn lock to lock.

Also a collapsed steering hose,inside

Ignition key will not turn...It's in the lock position and the car is in park. 2004 Hyundai Elantra

Wayneard is correct. with one hand on the ignition key try to turn the key towards start. With your other hand hold the steering wheel and turn slightly in either direction. This will take the locking pressure off the ignition cylinder. To prevent this from re-occuring be sure steering wheel is in a straight position before removing key from cylinder. Then be sure not to use steering wheel as a lifting point to get out of the car. If you do the wheel will move into a locked position, which is what you are experiencing now. Keep me posted
