Try changing or switching out the distributor. Most likely getting hot and shuts down. Does it crank but no start whenever it stops? May only start when it cools down again.

Ther e is a chance your injectors are leakin g down and there is excess fuel in the cylinders. Not a good thing. So, you fuel pressure and injectors need chkg. good luck

SOURCE: Car Stalls at low speed. Restarts. DTC Code 0340 and 1167

The codes you provided indicate separate issues. Code 1167 is indicative of either a stuck fuel injector of the O2 sensors. Code 0340 indicates the CMP position sensor. Replacing the O2 sensors will likely clear the 1167 code assuming the fuel injectors are okay. It would be the first course of action. If there's no noticeable change in performance (i.e. stalling problem continues) then the CMP position sensor is likely your overall problem. Best of luck.

Hard starting, stalling

Check the fuel pressure, make sure it doesn't bleed down after the car sits, that causing long crank times/hard starting.

How long can I drive my 2002 Nissan Quest, (98,000 miles) with the Service Engine Soon light on? Is there any risk that the car will stall out while driving it? Thank you.

Depending what is causing the light to be on there is some risk of it shutting down. Take it to an auto parts chain store where they will run a computer diagnostic scan for free and they can tell you what is causing the light and what sensor or part is needed to fix it. They can also clear the code causing the light to be on.

96 quest.. possible timimg, stopped running at 30mph

check possible broken timing belt by....
removing the distributer cap , and having someone try to start the car .
While it's trying to start , the rotor should be moving... if it's not
timing belt is broken
It's a big job for someone without great skill and a great selection of car tools

I would like to know the posible causes of engine running hot.

was the engine overheating before this repair? and again do u have bubbles in the coolant tank when the engine is running?, this is best checked when the engine is 1st started. I ask because I think u may have a leaking cylinder head gasket, this would account for the overheating still occurring.

Have a 96 camry 4 cyl auto. After highway driving, the idle becomes rough and wants to stall. The problem eventually goes away after driving a city speeds. Around town, it runs all day just fine. Help ,...

Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls and low idle, it is the idle speed control air-bypass valve and throttle valve, they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.
