Aside from building a garage or installing an engine block heater I have used this trick in the past on my 98 RR HSE. It may work for you if the starting issue is simply temperature related. Placing a shop-light or shielded work light underneath your block at night will produce just enough heat in many cases to overcome the slow starting problem.
Other possibilities may be under powered/weak battery. The rovers are known for high cranking amp demand and a weak or mismatched battery could certainly cause this problem. On the outside chance that it may be fuel delivery related you might try priming your fuel injection prior to cranking. Do this by turning key to position 2 (or last position before crank) wait til all the bells and whistles stop usually about 3-5 seconds, and repeat a couple times. If this is helpful, the bad news is it may be indicative of mechanical issues on the horizon.
****SAFETY NOTE***** PAY ATTENTION TO LIGHT PLACEMENT MAKING SURE NOT TO PUT IT IN PATH OF OIL LEAKS.
Hope this helps.

lock the jeep. hold in unlock position for 5 seconds, you will hear a beep, enter your unique code in a card in the front of the owners manual, will be something like this.
unlock 4 times
lock 8 times
unlock 13 times
lock 3 times
unlock and hopefully you hear 2 bleeps, now wait ten minutes for the alarm to turn off, the red light on the dash will blink really fast and the hazards may go off once, now you have 30 seconds to get your key in the ignition and start the car. but you need the code, apparently land rover will get it for you but you need indentity and proof of ownership etc.

2000 Land Rover Discovery 2. I cannot find a leak detection pump but get a P1451 and P1481 code. Could this be the solenoid for the charcoal canister vent in the engine bay giving me the issues?.

Question edited for clarity.

My late mother worked at the Land Rover plant in Solihull and put careful miles on a Disco when it was known as the 'J Car'. Also the first Vogue with a turbo. Long time ago!

Information and videos on both codes.

Hi welcome main problems are the abs valves causing the 3 dash lights (search 3 amigos online) a really badly sited compressor can cause air suspension models to fail giving the bags a slow leak the V8 is a solid engine but can have radiator expansion tank and cap failures
the other issue is electrics windows and door looms are problematic

99 land rover discovery hard starting when cold

Your Land Rover is no doubt fuel injected.maybe cold start injector. injects gasoline when starting in the cold, carburated vehicles used to have a choke to enrich air/fuel ratio when starting in cold.

What kind of oil do you put in the 1997 discovery

I use 5/30 during winter and 10/30 the rest of the time. I live in Colorado so the 5/30 flows better because it is a bit thinner ... Cold winters here. If u live where its warm no need for 5/30
