Put a radiator flush in your expansion bottle run it for about 20 miles to clean out both the core of the radiator and your heater core .then drain it. refill with 50/50 mix of anti freeze. leave off the cap the now as you need to bleed it first. to do so .put your heating on full with the engine ticking over .the water starting to heat up put on your cap.

My 85 dodge ram 50 2.0 pu idle running high and will not idle down when warm.

1985 Dodge Ramcharger Carburetor

As you can see, this carbureted engine has an electric choke. The cold sets that butterfly on the choke plate and there is a heater coil that warms up and disengages it. IF that electric choke heater burns out, it wont release the choke plate.

No heat in my 1985 s10

Does the engine reach normal operating temp? With the engine warmed up, are the heater hoses, hot? Does the blower motor work? If all the above are ok, then you have to check temp door under the dash.

Hi
You will be fine driving the car with the engine light on as this is a safety feature the car may be under powered ie may feel as if the turbo's not working (If it has one) but this is perfectly normal the engine light comes on which will then put the car in to "Limp Mode" which then allows you to get the car home or to the nearest garage
Hope this helps Nick

Windows fogging inside car, maybe a vaccum leak?

If you feel warm air blowing up on your windshield and If your heater is working, I would guess its a coolant leak, probably the heater core. Usually a coolant leak will leave a kind of "greasy" fog that is more difficult to wipe off. It is basically steam coating your windows. You should be able to smell coolant if its leaking.
If no warm air is blowing, I would guess an issue with your heater control module or a vacuum problem of not supplying vacuum to move the plenum door.

Hope that helps.

We just bought an 85 Minnie Winnie RV with a Chevy van front. The heater in the cab does not get warm. The fan works ok and it blows through all the vents, but no heat...

It doesn't sound like hot water is circulating thru the heater core. That model should have a valve on the intake hose that goes thru the firewall. Check to see that the cable is connected and the valve is working. If it is working properly, the hose should become hot on the heater core side of the valve.
