Car dies while driving

Driving down the interstate, my 2004 toyota matrix dash lights flashed and the engine shut off. I pulled over and turned the car off...restarted it 10 minutes later and it ran for a few minutes but would not accelerate. I floored it and was going 10 mph. Later it shut off again while driving and I waited 10 minutes and restarted it fine to make it home. ANY ANSWERS??? Thanks

It could be something as simple as a bad or loose ground wire but the hard part is finding it.
Good luck

Why did car die while driving on Interstate and will not start back up

When the engine dies all the lights on the dash should come ! It's when the engine is still running an those lights come is when you need to worry ! You need to check for spark an fuel pressure. If no spark probably an ignition module , crankshaft position sensor or distributer module , what ever ignition system it has. If there is spark spray some carburetor clean into the engine , if it try's to start you have a fuel delivery problem , fuel pump , relay ! No Start Diagnostic Basics EricTheCarGuy

All the lights flash but the engine will not start

Find the security system and write down the make and model. Use internet to find owner's manual, or how to disable the system.

I have a 09 Toyota Corolla. I was driving down the interstate when the serpentine belt broke, all the lights on the dash flashed on then off and the engine killed. I later found the water pump pulley bad...

pull oil cap and look in valve cover and see if you can see valves moving chances are if it died when driving you may need to rehome your idle speed control try turning key on engine off for 10 sec on 10 sec off for 6 to trys and then give it about half throttle and try to start and see if it runs if it does see if it idles if it dont idle try the 10 on and off a few more times

The truck shut off and will not start.

While you are driving the truck just shut down like you turned the key off ?
And now it will not start ?
Do the lights come on in the dash when you try to start it ?
Can you turn your headlights on ?
Is there a check engine light on in the dash. You need to have someone hook a scan tool up and retrieve any codes you may have.
Please let me know.

No dash lights 2003 matrix

Welcome to FixYa.

You may have one of the most common issues...sometimes, by accident, the dimmer control on the left side of the dash gets turned down; it is the little wheel at the far left of the instrument panel. Try turning it up, see if that fixes your problem; we see this issue quite often in my service department.

2004 dodge durango engine shuts off while driving

I had this happen to me before. My battery had went out and I had put another in (didn't buy a new one-- it was holiday). It did this exact thing to me. The scary part is once, it was on the interstate going about 75 mph... didn't die but all gauges went to nothing. It turned out that the battery I was using didn't have enough cold cranking amps and was pulling down the alternator too much so the computer shut it down. The one time it didn't... it was because the RPH's were too high. Try checking the battery and alternator... make sure you have the right battery and have an alternator shop test your alternator if the battery is good.
