Missed timing on A4 V6 Audi 1997 quattro

I changed my cylinder head gaskets after mounting the two heads i want to time the engine but at TDC the timing mark will not align

    what timing mark? the index on the cam sprocket or the crank? is it a duel over head cam or single

Engine not picking up on revs

Damage to the cylinder heads and leaking head gaskets. Possible damage to cylinder wall and pistons. It really depends on how hot it got and how long it was driven.

try flushing out radiator and then re-fill fresh coolant. If this does not work then there is a possibilty there is a problem with the cylinder head gasket.

Audi a4 1.8t random miss fire

Check out the AboutAutomobile.com site for NHTSA complaints. I believe there was a defect in the cylinder heads for this engine. The redesigned heads have a different suffix letter than the stock heads.

For a time, the Manufactuer was paying for the repair.

If you plan on doing more than light tuneup work, I highly recommend purchasing a manual for your car. We have for each of three vehicles a Haynes manual and it contains all the details on maintenance possible for the shade-tree mechanic. All are based on a complete rebuild.
