My 2006 Lincoln Zephyr does not start on cold days

The last two winters my 2006 Zephyr does not like starting in weather below 30. Battery was tested and not the issue. It turns over and when it warms up just a bit it starts. It seems to start when I pump gas a few times quickly on some days. Some days after I put a warmer in garage overnight it will start. After it starts it will start during day it just after it sits over night in temps below30-35ish.

The thing to do is have the vehicle hooked up to diagnostic scan tool . Viewing engine sensor data ,see whats off . The computer may think the vehicle is warmer then it is an giving it less fuel . Checking coolant temp sensor data , IAT - intake air temp sensor . 048 Engine Hard to Start or No Start Scan Data for Starting Problems

SOURCE: 2001 Lincoln TC, Cartier,

Hi, no to injectors, gas or module because if it were any of these, you would have same problem after car is on running. If you have more than 75,000 miles and don't know when the last time the spark plugs, or fuel filter was replaced, I would suggest having these changed by a mechanic. DON'T change the spark plugs yourself. These engines are notorious for "blowing" out spark plugs if not properly torqued. And if that happens, it will cost you an engine head if the shop can't re-tap your spark plug hole threads. Try having a reputable shop replace the spark plugs and fuel filter.

SOURCE: Why won't my 2006 Lincoln Zephyr start?

Hello
The engine and automatic transmission in this vehicles drive train are fully electronically controlled by a computer called the PCM and TCM (Power Train Control Module, Transmission Control Module). When a problem like this or other drive-ability related problems occurs the computer stores a record of the problem (there are of course some exceptions to this, like the fuel pump, engine coolant temperature sensor and MAF sensor for instance) in the form of a fault code in its memory, to read these fault codes you must have the systems memory scanned with a special tool. Once the fault code(s) are read you then must perform the appropriate diagnostic testing to find and resolve the problem(s) DO NOT REPLACE ANY PARTS UNTIL A TRAINED TECHNICAIN HAS DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO AVOID SPENDING YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON PARTS THAT MAY NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM

Where you at Kim,north pole, helping Santa, lol,How many cold cranking amps is your battery, may need a stronger one,Try this to see, remove battery overnight, store in your warm house, then in morning install back in car and see if it will start,if it does then battery is too weak for your Lincoln. Also metal shrinks in cold weather.

Har\d to start whe ntemperature is below 30 degerees

Cold weather is extremely hard on batteries - is your battery old? It may need replacing. Also the oil should be a winter grade of oil as specified by your vehicle manufacturer. Oil becomes thick in the cold weather and resists the cranking of the engine. Hope this helps - let me know. Thanks

I have a 2006 lincoln zephyr that is starting to have starting problems. thought it was the battery but wasn't that. is there a relay switch or something thats between the ignition switch and the starter...

Mine is doing the exact same thing! The first time it completely failed to turn over was last week on 12/7/10. A jump start got it going and although it was hesitant to turn over on a few occasions afterwards, it would start ... until this morning, 12/14/10. I do not have a solution yet, but if you find out anything, please post it here. I will do the same.

Heated and cooled seats quit working. won't work on either driver's or passanger's seats. checked the fuses and relays and they are all ok. what's wrong?

Remove fuses 10 and 11 in the underhood junction box. Leave out for 5 minutes then reinstall. If the seats start working your Zephyrs dual climate control seat module will need replaced.
