Brakes being spongy means there's still some air in the system!
Hope you are bleeding the system the correct way.
You have to start bleeding right hand side rear wheel first if your car is a LHD ( left hand drive) thn you come to the rear left side thn to the front side and last to the front left side.
Let me ask ..on bleeding is the pressure of the fluid coming out high?
Upon bleeding do you still get bubbles or there are no bubbles seen?
If not seen thn you will have to either replace the brake mastercylinder or overhaul it..... its better you replace it.

Hope this helps!

Sometimes if you are not carefull air can get trapped in the brake lines or in the brake booster......

you should get them checked""

"i would be carefull driving"

but if you dont think air got trapped in there.....you should try upgrading those rubber hoses to steel kind.....

hope this helps XD

If the brakes are spongy, THERE IS STILL AIR IN THE SYSTEM. Bleed brakes again, and a 3rd time if necessary. If you are MANUALLY bleeding, by having a helper pump up the brakes, make sure they hod the PEDAL DOWN till you close the bleeder valve, or you will **** back in more air. Start bleeding the brakes from FURTHEST WHEEL, which is usually R/R. Hope this helps

I bought a 1999 oldsmobile silhouette replaced brake pads and bled brake system . the brakes are still spongie abs light still comes on once in awhile..

If the brakes are spongy you will have to bleed the brakes again. It sounds like there is still air in them.
If you are doing it manualy make sure that the pedal is held down until the bleed screw is tight.
There is a brake bleeding kit that can be bought, this makes the job a lot easier.

Brakes go to the floor to stop....already replaced master cylinder and dont know symptoms of a bad hydrobooster.....i also already bleed mc and all brakes

when you replaced the master cylinder , did you bench bleed it , in order to get all of the air out it, before installing it, and afterwards, it is recommendable to bleed all 4 wheels to get the air out also. "also some of the times , when a brake booster goe's bad the brake pedal can also become spongy.

2003 rav 4, just replaced front calipers and pads, after bleeding the line, peddle was spongie, bled all four lines, peddle still spongie, do I need the engine running to properly bleed the lines, and since...

I would bleed the rears too especially if the brake fluid reservoir drained empty. Also you may need to drive the vehicle to seat the brake pads. Check and see how the pedal feels initially before you road test to make sure you don't need to pump the brakes in order to stop. if you do then re bleed all four wheels. If you don't have to pump the pedal and it just feels spongy then try going around the block a few times and see if the pedal stiffens up after the pads have seated.

Spongy brakes

Does sound like you need a new master cylinder. On a 2000 you wont need to back bleed. You will just need to follow the instruction and bleed the master and all four points. you will probably need to bleed the ABS block and proportioning valve but only if they have bleeders on them.

Brake pedal travel gets worse over 6 months and feels spongy. problem recurs again after bleeding the brakes.

Any leakage at the brake wheel cylinders? If so, you must replace leaking wheel cylinders.

More likely is a worn master cylinder. Replacement is necessary. This is not typically a diffucult job, but important to do it right. It sounds like you have the brake bleeding down, and you will need to do this after the master cylinder replacement! Be sure to bleed all 4 corners!

Brian
