Can't locate the blower motor resistor

Here's a link to what your blower motor resistor look's like,it's next to the blower motor,2 screws hold it on.Blower Motor location can change from year to year. It can change with the trim level of the vehicle. A vehicle that has front and rear climate controls may be configured differently than a vehicle that has front controls only. The following are two different repair procedures. One is given because the blower motor is located and accessed in the engine compartment, the other is given because the blower motor is mounted inside the vehicle. http://www.autozone.com/cooling-heating-and-climate-control/blower-motor-resistor/duralast-blower-motor-resistor/cadillac/deville/1990/8-cylinders-3-4-5l-fi/860043_0_0 Here's a link to your blower motor. My blower motor only works on 1 & 2 & 3 speeds dont work on 4 & 5. I was told to buy a blower motor. Need to know where this is located to replace on my 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

If your blower works at some speeds and not others, the likelihood of the blower motor needing to be replaced is low. The more common problems would be either the switch or the resister that regulates the motor speed. The resistor is usually located in the air duct under the dash.

I have a 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix. I have replaced the blower motor, but that did not correct the problem of no air coming out. So I purchased the resistor, but can not locate it in the dash! I was told...

The Blower Motor Resistor Block is usually located in the air duct on the output side of the blower motor. It is placed here so that air flow from the fan helps stop the resistiors from overheating and burning out. It should be obvious once you look near to where you replaced the blower motor.

It is the Resistor....

I'm not Smoggod24, however the resistor and blower motor are located under the passenger side of the dash. Look under the glove box.

Ac blower motor

it should be located in the heater/evap case under the dash by the glove box, usually the pigtail from the blower motor itself leads the the resistor pack.

F150 2004 blower working only on high position.

this is because your blower motor resisters are burned out for speeds 1,2 & 3. High speed does not have a resister.

Replace the resister. If it goes a 2nd time, it is because your blower motor is failing & drawing too much current.

it is behind the glove box I think. It is in the plenum case where air blowing on it keeps it cool.

Easy repair. May need to access throught glove box which should open all the way down when you squeeze the sides in.

Go to tascafordparts.com for a discounted resister.
Please rate as solved problem if this is what you needed.

Blower Motor Switch Resistor
Blower Motor Resistor Coils 9ba1105.gif Blower Motor Thermal Limiter 47afe58.gif The heater blower motor switch resistor has the following features:
  • The assembly is located on the passenger side of the plenum assembly behind the glove compartment (06010).
  • Three resistance elements are mounted on the resistor board to provide four A/C blower motor speeds.
  • Depending on the heater blower motor switch position, series resistance is added or bypassed in the A/C blower motor circuit to decrease or increase A/C blower motor speed.
  • An overheating protective device (thermal limiter) will open the resistor coil circuit when the temperature reaches 121°C (250°F), interrupting the blower motor operation in all speeds except HI.
  • The thermal limiter cannot be reset and is not serviceable.

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
  3. Install the blower motor resistor retaining screws.
  4. Tighten
Tighten the screws to 1.6 N·m (14 lb in).
