SL1 won't start, just single click, electronics work

99 saturn sl1, had the starter and battery both replaced within last two months. Has been driving fine since, but after driving it to a couple of places and stopping to eat, when I came out to start it, the ignition just clicked once. All of the electronics worked fine except the headlights would shut off when i turned the key, but nothing else. I tried tapping on the starter and nothing. Just the same single click.

Had friend come up to jump it and nothing. Even let it sit for a few minutes. Just the same old single click.

Try charging the battery or jumping the car, your alternator could be shot and not charging the battery.

Sounds to me like the starter is stuck on one of the flywheel teeth, or the starter itself is bad. Yes, even new starters can go bad. Try tapping on it a little harder and see if that helps.

99 saturn sl1 replaced new starter car wont start no crank battery is good new spark plugs aand boots. Car still no start no crank has dash lights and dings

You still have a problem with your starter. Sounds like you missed the wires going to the solenoid which engages the bendix.
Recheck the wiring.
It could also be a bad starter from the parts store. Won't be the first time.

99 saturn will not crank after installing a new starter

you may need a shim between your starter and the block. Most starters are ok, but some need shims so that the teeth on starter line up with teeth on flywheel. Starter is probably jammed

2002 Saturn SL1, 72K miles. Hasn't been driven in

Single click? More battery is needed. Id change the battery, or slow charge it.
Might also be the security system shutting down the starter. Common on GM vehicles. Heres a link on that. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/

1999 Saturn SL1 will not crank or turn over

i think i know what ur problem is, i think its the relay to ur starter, not the starter itself. if there is a clicking sound when u turn the key that usually means that the relay to the starter is bad. hope this helps u

Voltage drop testing the starter electrical circuit would be a good first step , ruling out the cable's connections an ground !
Starter Voltage Drop If this doesn't find a problem ,then check the control side . Ignition switch , when it won't start check for Battery voltage at the connection at the starter solenoid "S" terminal .

Car Wont Start Sometimes, happened 3 times in the last... 3 months last two times less than a two weeks of each other

Possibly a Coolant Temp. sensor unless it has been replaced recently?? Also check the connector with the yellow & black wire.It will be the lower of the 2 coolant sensors. The ODO Is mechanical & can only be serviced by replacing the complete guage cluster.Hope this helps

98 saturn sl1 won't start

if you have good battery voltage at this time, and when you banged on the starter and then the car cranked over, it would appear you have a defective starter. i would imagine if you replaced it in july of last year that it could still be under some sort of warranty, so i would look into that. either way, it sounds as if you need a new starter.
