SOURCE: Olds silhouette heater blows cold air

as long as the engine temperature is normal, i would suspect a clogged heater core, the dex-cool antifreeze is notorious for building up deposits in cooling system. have heater core flushed first to see if it makes any difference

SOURCE: whistling noise

Have you tried placing something over the grille area temporarily, to try & isolate it. Can you tell roughly the area it's coming from?

SOURCE: loud wizzing/whistling noise

i don't know terms or names but i had the same problem. i found for me it was a whistling coming from the black box w/ hose and air filter that is on the right as you look under the hood. I opened it up and re sealed it and the noise is gone. Sorry I don't know the proper names but for me no more annoying whistle while the engine revs.

What is a whistling noise behind the dashboard?

Many controls are activated by a vacuum line from the engine. My wild guess there is a slit or bad connection somewhere on the way to the control system. Good ears or "hearing horn" should help you find the sound source.

I have a whistling sound coming from my tire is that my brakes or could it b something else?

No brand, year and model of car identified which would help.

1. If it only occurs when you apply the brakes then it will be the braking system. Most likely either a noisy brake pad or you have completely worn down the brake pads to the metal backing plate.

2, If it occurs while driving normally (no braking) it is difficult to know the cause without knowing what type of vehicle you have and without being able to listen to the noise.

Volvo s60 2004 makes a whistling noise and engine light says P0300 random/ multiple misfire

You have to diagnose an ignition problem,
since you have the PO300 & misfires shown,
at least for many cylinders

Could end up just being one cylinder or several
that need whatever ignition parts control them

Individual Coils for each cylinder or a module that
applies to all of them

Wouldn't use the car until resolved
As it gets worse, you will ruin the exhaust converter

No idea on the whistle

My car is whistling when I start it and it's making creaking noises like something about to pop

Whistling noise while the car is just sitting if often a vacuum leak in the engine compartment. Could also be a leak in the AC/Heater blower ventilation...and would cease when fan motor is turned off. Also could be a leaf or debris stuck in the recirc vent door causing air to leak by. Again, most likely to occur only when vent fan motor is running. The creaking noises (if while moving) is an indication of needing a front end lube job (normally performed during oil changes). All the rubber joints become dry and the vehicle will sound like a creaky old baby carriage with even the slightest movement of the vehicle body.. These are common issues, and give you a place to start investigating given the limited information provided. Best of luck resolving these issues.

Whistling noise while driving

If it is whistling while you rev your engine (while parked), then most likely there is a leak or hole in your air intake or vacuum hoses.

Facts:
1. Your car creates a vacuum to constantly receive air from the outside.

2. A whistling noise is created when air travels through a hole.

Check all air pressurized ducts for holes or leaks.
Check air intake system for holes or leaks.

Low coolant. no signs of leaks or drips

There are several possible causes, but the most common would be a temporarily stuck thermostat due to cold weather. Refill the reservoir, and monitor the level daily. If it drops suddenly, or if you notice high engine temps or a loud whistling noise while driving, you'll need to change the thermostat.

We have a 1990 Daihatsu charade, at times when we start the car and drive we hear a whistling noise, this occurs now and then, does anyone know what this could be? And also how do we get the rev odometer...

1. That whistling noise is a loose fan belt, tighten it or replace it.

2.The odometer - just remove the end that goes into the engine and have the groove on it enhanced , it will work fine
