My car will start to bog down like its not getting gas or something after i have been driving it for a while. I have replaced the fuel filter, pump works fine, busted out the cadylitic convertor and its still acting up. Have checked all plugs and wires under hood and has a newer fuel injector in it. It happens when i am pushing in on the gas pedal, after a certain spot the more i push on the gas pedal, the more it bogs down until i let up on it. If i pull over and turn in off for 10 seconds then start it again it will be fine to run for another 20-40 minutes before acting up again. it doesn't make sense to me. what is happening with it? If someone could help i would really appreciate it

My Son's 01 Sonata displayed the exact same systems and it was his catalytic converter. The metallic sounds were the converter guts disintegrating.

Hello, I would assume this is your fuel pump inside your tank. I would first however do some basics like a general tuneup. For starters I would replace your spark plugs and wires, rotary cap and button and check your fuses. Run some injector cleaner through your system. You know quick simple cheap things before you get to the fuel pump inside the gas tank which can be kinda expensive. The warm up then dies can be caused by, "blownout or fouled," spark plugs. I hope this gives you a general direction in which to go. A sidenote is that coil packs do not normally run an igntion code and I for one do not like them becuase they are expensive.

Fuel Pump relay, Fuel Pressure Regulator may be faulty. A relay can be tested with multi-tester, and a pressure tester for regulator.

Check the ECT Sensor (Engine Coolant Temparature) , it must be faulty , the computer is thinking the engine is too hot so it gives it less and less gas...
MAKE SENSE ?!!!
I strongly suggest to anyone reading this to go and buy the shop manual for your vehicle and make it a point to read it cover to cover , ONCE , at least... LOL
I do hope that is all , on the Chevy Astro Van that had this same problem , it specified not to remove the thermostat , with difficulty I got the hard to reach thermotat out... it started running with no problem , I then replaced the thermostat with a new one since it was out and replaced the ECT sensor and ...THA THATS ALL FOLKS !!!
BUY THE SHOP MANUAL IF YOU ARE A DIY SELFER (do it your selfer)...
Please...!!!!
... as for cataletic converter problems , yes if it sounds like a bunch of pebbles jumping around in there , replace it , other than that , all that can be done (just a tip) is running two bottles of gneric store brand Octane Booster in half a tank of gas till almost near the empty mark and that will clean it enough to pass the SMOG TEST , nothing else do I allow to be done to it other than replacing it... you yankd yours out ,
Mainly what you did is YANKED MY LUNGS OUT...
THAT IS THE ONLY RESULT YOU GOT BY YANKING OUT THE CATALETIC CONVERTER ,
This is a reprement to all the know it alls that have a vengence towards the CLEAN AIR ACT... Wanna save gas ? Ride a bicycle !!!
Wanna go fast , ride a Motorcycle...
