Service start system light came on while driving.....was preceded by a popping noise.....the radio cut off as well....what is wrong....what is the fix?

This is likely to be a problem with the amp itself and an internal component like a switching transistor. The only way to check is a two-fold test. An auto electrician with a pro grade scan tool computer to diagnose the full electrical system including the BCM which also runs the radio system. If that passes, the radio amp needs to go to an audio tech or the maker service centre.

Impala's are famous for ignition issues, are the interior lights of your dash coming on when you want them, or just by themselves? The clicking after you turn off, I would check the security system, i.e., remote clickers, cars computer, key chip, ect. Sound like your alarm is attempting to engage

You need a new radio and wiring. Take it to your local ford house if it still under warranty. Your radio harness had a short and fryed your radio.

no, then , check for 12vdc at the radio power connector wire
with key pulled. (off)
got power on the radio now,. that is wrong.

use a rubber hose to your ear to find true object popping.

Toni, is your car making noises while your driving? Although your lights work, still check the battery level. Make sure everything is the way it should be first. If your check engine light is on, get it scanned at Autozone, it is free. You may have an issue with your transmission or shifting components. Did it continue to make noises when shifting? I need a little more detail please.

You may have a bad control or while you where in the dash installing the cd player you may have cut into a wrong wire or pull a connector out a little causing it not to connect good, you will need to go back inside and check the wiring to the controls and check the wires you may have used to connect the player also make sure you didnt pop any fuses by mistake by wiring something wrong, the most common reason for a problem like this is due to connecting the light wire from the stock radio to the wrong wire, this wire is connect to lights for night driving, it lights up old radio at night for the display and i think this is your problem and may have blown the fuse, so if this is the case you will need to replace the fuse and locate that wire and disconnect it and tape it as its not used in the aftermarket radios.good luck and have a good day.

The radio is cutting out because the ABS coming on is robbing the radio of voltage -- radios require a minimum voltage or they will shut off.

The ABS needs service at a shop. There is probably nothing wrong with the radio.

The squeaking inidicates worn brake pads / shoes -- needs a brake job.

If you are talking about an aftermarket stereo system, not the car's original, it could be drawing more current than the car can provide under high output conditions. Consult the supplier.
If you are talking about the car's standard system, it probably has a loose fuse or loose connection, especially if you see the dial lights go off also. If they don't, the bad connections could be to the speakers, or it might be an internal fault in the radio.

Clean the distributer cap in the inside, it has water in it thus causing all the noises and the back fire.

That pop noise is ok just the flap in the throttle body coming open when the car stops .
The engine may have stopped because its low on oil so the oil pump for the injectors wont work - takes about 7 u.s. quarts of 5/30 fully synthetic oil at service time to run right.
It can also stop if the pressure sensor in the injector rail packs up or the oil pick up pipe for the injector system falls off due to cracking the mount .
